Review summary

We enjoyed our vacation but there were several aspects of the service and food that was disappointing due to changes. Someone should be refilling coffee in the morning in the breakfast buffet. There should be bar service in the pool area. Service in Cagney’s and Moderno was terrible.

Buffet breakfast was sub-par. Not many healthy choices. Yogurt options had high fructose corn syrup. Not all omelette choices were displayed and omlette was over cooked. Surf and turf in Cagney’s was disappointing. Three shrimp were included rather than lobster tail. Food in LaCucina and Tropicana Room was delicious. Meat in Moderno was salty.

We only saw Burn the Floor as we’ve seen the other shows on past ships since 4 years ago. I suggest adding new shows. This was disappointing.

Service and Staff

Service by the pool was terrible. During the 2 days at sea I was only asked once if I wanted something to drink. No servers were walking around as in years past, very unacceptable. Service in Cagney’s and Moderno was extremely slow, not even worthy of the automatic 18% gratuity. Servers in Tropicana Room and Stephen in La Cucina we’re great.

Don’t expect good surf and turf, or any one refilling coffee in the breakfast buffet area or any bar service by the pool. This was very disappointing on the ship.

My husband and son zip lined. We were very impressed how the staff repeatedly reviewed safety issues. Our family enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks in the lagoon.

No service on the pool deck? Wow, what a bummer. We really enjoy this on other lines & tip well for that service.

Wow.. guess Im not the only one not impressed with the Getaway. On Carnival, the waiters are walking around the pool or deck chairs all the time asking for drink orders.

I have not seen pool service for drinks for several years. We just have to go to the bar. As a matter of fact, I haven’t had anyone ask me if I wanted a drink since my 2014 Independence of the Seas Cruise. I’m sorry you had poor service, as we never experienced any of that when we cruised the Getaway in January.
