Review summary

This cruise was a bit of a disappointment after a really positive experience on our first Norwegian Cruise. Love the Ultimate Beverage Package. But it was hard to get service. Some staff were really friendly. Others seemed to be going through the motions. The boat is crowded and there are lots of added on charges for things like room service, specialty dining, coffee, etc. Carpet and cushioned furniture is starting to show wear. Going on another cruise in February to break up the winter. But I think I’ll try another line

Embarkation

Lines were long but moved well. Definitely cater to Haven Suite and other “priority” guests. Staff pleasant. Not sure why we had to pick a time as nobody paid attention anyway.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Service in Tropicana was good. Savor and Taste were slow and it was difficult to get drinks. All specialty restaurants were excellent food and service - Carney’s, Teppanyki and La Cucina. Bar service and deck service for drinks was very slow. Disappointing because we went on the Escape last year and service was awesome. It was the reason we decided to cruise on Norwegian again. Room service charge was $7.95. Only ordered a couple of times and both times part of the order was wrong.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Plenty to do for all ages. Spa was hit or miss. Massage was great. Mani Pedi not so much. Need to update their procedures and get some bling for the younger crowd - sparkles, glitter, etc. Really hard to find a chair on deck on days at sea.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Need more variety in nighttime entertainment and not charge for shows. Casino smelled. Singers were very talented.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Eight year old loved Splash Academy.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room steward was ok. Waiters were kind of slow other than in specialty restaurants. One exception, Chance in the Atrium Bar was great. It just wasn’t the same level of service as the Escape.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Public areas well maintained but showing age. Often long waits for elevators. No sports variety on TV. Only soccer and cricket. No college football!

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was ok. Carpet and sofa worn and faded. Not much room between bed and closet. Room is over bar and some nights music was loud until late. Also there was a vibration. Bathroom, towels and linens all clean.

Ship tip

Leave room for desert.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Long lines. Slow. Ran out of luggage tags.
