Review summary
I've cruised quite a bit, having owned my own cruise agency back in the 90's, so I'm not a newbie. I knew the destinations and did not go for them (been to tons of Caribbean islands) but went on this specific cruise because it was offered as an over 40+ singles cruise by Vacations to Go. I had not been on an NCL ship in over a decade (I prefer RCCL, Princess, Celebrity) and was not overly impressed. It wasn't a bad cruise it just wasn't great. My primary 3 disappointments were 1. the Getaway only has 2 pools (one family, one adults) and the adult pool area was cramped, crowded and the actual pool very small. 2. the staff was not very friendly and bar staff particularly would look at you and continue to "bull..." with the other staff rather than get you a drink. Also no wait staff roaming around pool area. 3. Dancing in the evening was basically on deck outside and at times uncomfortable (hot/muggy). They did have a small, long & skinny inside dance bar but it was claustrophobic.
Cruise was a good price so maybe it's just the old adage "you get what you pay for".
