I traveled with my 9 year old daughter, my sister, and my mother of 60+ and must say there was something for ALL of us to do on and off the ship. My mom never took a cruise before and was skeptical at first but can't stop talking about it now. She had an amazing time. We even took advantage of a deal and placed deposits on another future cruise.
Favorite port was Cozumel lots of good shopping deals. 2nd favorite was Harvest Caye, Belize. Least favorite was Roatan, Honduras mainly due to a bad experience with the local taxi/tour operators hounding my family and I while we were trying to decide on what to do.
Overall the Getaway was fantastic and I can't wait to take another cruise hopefully to explore another ship. As a return Norwegian cruiser, I knew I would get exceptional service, activities, shows, food, etc.....all was ON POINT!!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We tried something different every day. If traveling with kids it's best to eat in the Garden Cafe. It's casual. Food is ready. Kids can see and pick what they want to eat.
Onboard Activities

So many!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Burn the Floor, Million Dollar Quartet, dueling pianos, magic show, comedy, welcome show, and farewell shows were great and complimentary, included in package. All are so talented!!!
Illusionarium was a great show and dinner however I suggest having different meal options readily available for either children, vegetarians, and cruisers with food allergies (pointing at me). The dinner was pre fixed (appetizer, entree, and dessert). We had prosciutto, tomato, and mozzarella as the appetizer. Filet minon with broccoli and eggplant as the main course. And mixed mini cakes for the dessert.
I suggest maybe chicken fingers or a burger with fries for kids. My daughter only ate the tomatoes, broccoli, and of course the dessert.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Splash Academy is an amazing program for kids especially when the parents want to have some free time. Best of all its COMPLIMENTARY!!!
I only had to pay for after hours. After 10:30pm it was $6 per hour. Which is more than reasonable. For a couple nights that I wanted to attend the comedy show which was not suitable for children.
My daughter had so much fun and made new friends. They even put together a SPLASHTACULAR show to perform the last night of our cruise.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Service and staff are always friendly, respectful, and prepared to go above and beyond for you.
Luis (Assistant Maitre'D) and his crew at the Garden Cafe kept their section super clean.
Joel our Cabin Steward made sure we always had what we needed.
Silas the Cruise Director and Fergie the Assistant Cruise director had activities jam packed each day and we're so much fun and energetic.
Ship Quality

Super clean for this neat freak!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Surprisingly very roomy. I traveled with 4 people including myself. Theres lots of place for storage where we were all able to unpack and have our things readily available during our trip. And we're able to put our suitcases under the bed to hide away.
Our Cabin Steward Joel was outstanding. He remembered our names and always addressed us in the hallways. Always made sure we had what we needed. He was sick the 2nd day of our cruise and when he returned the next day he made sure we had everything in his absence.
NCL provides the shampoo/conditioner and body wash. Which is great however I suggest also providing the lotion. Most hotels provide all 3.
I also suggest more hooks either in the bathroom or around the cabin.
Ship tip
Review your freestyle daily the night before to plan what you want to do the next day. Wake up early. Wear comfortable shoes. Try everything. Different restaurants, shows, etc. There's so much to do. Or you can just relax by the pool or hot tubs. Get an unlimited pass for the Mandara Spa. Worth it!
Know what you want to do if you want to plan your own excursion or you should just book through NCL'S Shore Excursions desk that way you won't have to deal with hagglers.
Beautiful new destination. It's basically a resort on land. Water park. Beach. Pools. Landshark restaurant. Different shops. Water is a bit rocky so you should wear water shoes if that makes you uncomfortable.
2nd time visiting this port. Easy on and off the ship. Don't bring any food off the boat. My mom forgot she had an orange in her bag and the K9 dogs sniffed it and she had to take it out. We docked at Punta Langusta. Beautiful port with lots of shops and restaurants. We took a cab 22 dollars each way for 5 of us to Chankanaab Park which was about a 10 minute drive. I bought a deal through Groupon for 65 dollars for the Dolphin Encounter which also included admission to the park, as well as buffet lunch, drinks, and access to the lockers. We didn't have much time to do anything except for with the dolphins before we headed back to the port for some shopping. Best place to buy souvenirs. Usually the stores off the path with have better prices.
Pool (no charge), restaurant/bar with swim up, and shops where you arrive. If you're looking to shop for souvenirs, go to the shops at the end of the Plaza. They'll give you the best prices.
kknorr0320---I was also wondering that. It sounds like it must have been an error on her part, as she thoroughly enjoyed the ship and cruise. It is a fabulous ship!
