Review summary
Based on our prior experience on Norwegian, we've decided not to sail on this cruise line because of the poor service and the sub standard food service. This cruise was to use up the future cruise voucher we purchased from the 1st Norwegian cruise.
Experience on this cruise started out on the negative side. The cruise terminal security guards at Miami made all the passengers discard all water bottles, even the empty ones. They couldn't tell me why except they were told to do so. Once we got on board the ship then I understood why. Price for the water is very high and gratuity is at 18% which is higher than other cruise line's 15%.
Took us a while to find our cabin as we are not used to a cruise ship with an entire section of cabin in the middle of the ship. The room is smaller than other cruise line and the closet seems cramped compare to other cruise line I've been on.
Food on this ship was surprisingly good compare to other Norwegian ships we've been on. With the Freestyle dining, we made sure we were at the dining room at the start of the serving time to avoid waiting in line.
I made reservation for the shows before the cruise which worked out really well. The shows were great, especially "Burn the Floor." We liked it so much that we went to see it twice. The show reservation system worked out well for a ship with over 4000 passengers.
Getting a drink requires standing in a long line. I've walked a way a few times after getting tired of waiting inline.
This is the only cruise line that requires cruisers to exchange beach towels one for one. The hours of towel exchange is not very well published. We learned of the exchange hours when we couldn't exchange our towels, which closes 3 hours before the pool closes.
Service on the Norwegian line is not as good as the other cruise line we've been on. For example, cruisers are required to get the luggage tags for disembarkation from customer relations while other cruise lines have them delivered to the rooms based on indicated desired departure time. Every visit to the customer relations requires waiting in a long line. One common theme on this ship was long lines.
This is a cruise line that we will not patronize again.
