Review summary

disclaimer:  I am not a big fan of cruises.  The staff of the Norwegian, for the most part, were  extremely accommodating.   I was surprised though how many times the restaurants that I wanted to try had limited hours. I was also annoyed how there was always a sales pitch  for some way to spend your money. Bingo, specialty restaurants, art galleries, entertainment shows that cost money, drinks that are not included even when you purchase the ultimate beverage package, tips, casinos, water, shopping on board, mini bars, spa services. I loved my balcony ocean view and the room was very nice.  The million dollar quartet was awesome show.  Get there early for decent seat.

cruisingluvcouple---I agree. I suspect that not only is he "not a big fan of cruises", he is an uninformed cruiser. Most people heading out on a cruise are well aware ahead of time just what is covered, and what is not. I sailed the Getaway, also, and was NEVER pressured to buy anything! Yes, there are stores, and yes, there is a casino, and yes, there are all specialty restaurants, and yes, there are spa services---but nobody ever followed me around pestering me to buy those services. It is a well known fact that there are extra charges for these services, but you don't have to partake in them. I had the beverage package, and it was clearly stated "any drink up to $15". Not a surprise. I knew that before boarding. And what restaurants had limited hours?? The Getaway offered more "off hour" dining than any other cruise line I've been on! O'Sheehan's Irish Pub is a 24 hour complimentary gem! And the buffet offered even late evening snacks! Specialty restaurants are open during the dinner hour, along with the three MDRs. I really think an informed traveler is a happier traveler. No surprises, no disappointments. When you are spending a large amount of money on a vacation, it only makes sense that you know what you are paying for.
