Review summary

The whole cruise was bad from the beginning, they messed up our beverage package (took over an hour to straighten out), buffet laid out in huge square, kids had to go thru casino to get from one end of ship to the other on 7th floor. The photographer blocked stairs for pictures, food in main dining rooms were strange combinations (sliced veal with tuna sauce, shrimp & mashed potatoes in red sauce, etc. ????), getting off early (self carry of luggage) a joke (1 1/2 hours as opposed to 45 minutes when we used to put our luggage out the night before), we got off the elevator & was routed down the hall, thru the casino, down another hall, around the ship back thru the casino down the hall again & off the ship to another long hall round & round like cattle to customs. Very little of the staff were pleasant and smiling (exceptions were Weaver, Jenni Lynn, and one other main dining room server) or friendly. I will stick with Celebrity & Royal Caribbean in the future.

The cabin was pretty standard, but no drawers except under the couch, closet was to short to hang pants by the cuff had to be folded in half. The balcony was much smaller than we are used to.

Ship tip

No charge in Taste, Savor restaurants but no frills either, no escargot, no surf & turf night. You can pay extra for such things there!!!

cruiselover64---I agree! As I wrote in my review, the Getaway was the best cruise we ever took, and I've taken several! I guess a cruise is what you make it. You can choose to enjoy yourself, or you can find fault with everything. The choice is yours. I found ALL the staff exceptionally pleasant and hard working. Perhaps you were not very friendly to them? Yes, the buffet WAS huge, I said that in my review, but I also said to walk around and look to see what is offered. Was walking around a buffet too much walking?? Lol! And you may notice I said the food in the MDRs did have some strange combinations, but always good and served hot. It was our time to step outside the box and try different things. If still hungry later, the buffet was there offering late night snacks from 9:30-11:00pm. A win-win situation. And I did mention that I noticed the self carry option of debarkation looked to be a complete nightmare, which reaffirmed to me to always leave my luggage out the night before, and choose the latest time to leave ship, if a post cruise excursion not booked. So I will end this repeating: a cruise is what you make it. If you choose to be a complainer, you will have a rotten time. And to me, ANY day on a cruise is better than a day not at sea (can't say "work", as I am now retired!ð)

You bring the whine and the rest of us will bring the cheese. Seriously? Was there nothing you liked? Why would someone pay good money to take a cruise and spend the entire time miserable because they already know they like another better and then complain about it.
