Review summary

This is my 14th cruise between NCL, RCL, Carnival, Disney, etc... I honestly believe that the service level has drop tremendously over the years.... I use to enjoy the extra pampering... that is why I have choose to cruise 14 x's in the past 20 years... Don't let me scare you it is OKAY just not great!!

We choose to eat dinner in the specialty restaurants, there is always terrific service in the specialty restaurants. You may want to eat there as well. If you eat dinner in the free dining rooms, you will def be waiting longer to be seated as well as to be served. You are on vacation so I would go for the specialty restaurants(if thats an option for you) and get pampered and have a relaxing meal......as far as out of control children go, I've never experienced on NCL, children running amuck. They are either with the kids club or with their parents.

Thank you bullmastff, I hope that the experience is relaxing and enjoyable. I hear about out of control children, noise and long waits for service or meals. That often is my real life, and I am vacationing to escape from that. I have a stop reading the reviews, my last cruise was exceptional, and I have been looking at the blogs too often. Thanks for s dose of reality.

LOL I don't know what happened to my post, a few words got left out. Basically what I was trying to say is ,you'll have a great time if you make it a great time. You have to get onboard with a happy, excited attitude and you'll have a fantastic time. I personally love NCL and the Getaway is a wonderful ship with great service, great food. I hope you have a great time.

You will not have bad service on the Getaway. I've been on the Getaway twice already and I am going on it again on the 3rd. It's a great ship,great food,great service. If you onboard with the attitude that it's not going to be a good time then that's what you'll have. Relax,enjoy,it will be great ;)

I still feel cruising is the best vacation. I've always had good service, it's just not what it was 15 - 20 years ago.

Why have low expectations? The comments are scaring me, Celebrity line is great, they are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that the experience is exceptional. I'm going to be on the Getaway in Dec. I am fearful that the experience will be terrible, from the comments I read. It is a done deal now, friends and family are all booked. I have low expectations and am not looking forward to the trip. I hope that it is better than I expect. I have to stop reading the reviews, because it is depressing.

I've cruised almost 25 times and have several booked, I love cruising and still find it to be the best vacation and find the service to be great ;)
