Review summary

While the Getaway is a very beautiful ship it seems as though there are too many passengers onboard. Common areas were extremely crowded. There were a lot of families with small children on board. The cabin hallways are very narrow and not easy to navigate. The balconies are beautiful but quite skimpy. While the main dining rooms were quite accommodating, the main buffet did not have adequate seating. Overall, the food and service were great but the ship was overcrowded. It was almost impossible to sit by the pool or get in the hot tubs.

I see all these people posting about crowds and the pool being overcrowded and not being able to find a seat or use hot tub or buffet being overcrowded. we were on the Getaway Jan 17 and yes there were people but we never had any of these problems. Yes there were people at the pool but we never felt crowded there was always a seat to be found and we always found a spot in the hot tub when we wanted one. Either we are more tolerant of crowds or we had a cruise with no crowds

The only time I felt crowded was on sea days around the pool and sun decks and of course at popular events like the 80s party, but what's a party without a crowd?

think about it everyone is obviously drawn to the hot tubs and pools there's no possible way to build big enough pools for every single person on board to get in at once. you just learn when it's not going to be so crowded.

this is my fear of cruising. went one time before and the pools were too crowded I ended up sitting on the quiet decks and never used the pool. getaway cruise is coming up this summer, we'll see.

That is the reason that you should do your homework when looking for your next cruise. Perhaps a smaller ship with fewer passengers would be more to your taste. We have been cruising since 1982 and we prefer the smaller and intimate ships.
