The cruise was excellent. My only issue was with the 3-4 cheapcruise.com representatives who I had to speak to finalize all of the arrangements. We have used before. For some reason, I repeatedly received wrong information and every phone call required 1-2 more phone calls to correct the booking, get correct information, etc. The whole process took several days longer than it should have, and I was very wary that something was going to go awry with the booking.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The lines moved quickly and the staff was very friendly. Only issue was the pre-cruise transfer from Boston Logan to the cruise terminal. It was difficult to find the attendants despite a couple of phone calls assuring us they "will be right there". And our name was not on the list, but I had the booking confirmation in my E-docs. . p
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We have gone on several cruises and I think the food was some of the best we have experienced. All the dining areas we attended were very well staffed and very professional.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The fitness center was typical (which was good). As it was a New England cruise, I didn't even bring swim suit, but a limited number of passengers seemed to enjoy the pool. Extra amenities seemed limited, but adequate for our tastes.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
There was a magician/memory expert for 4 of the 7 nights. So even though he put on a different show each night, it was still somewhat predictable. The Blazing Boots review was absolutely excellent.
Children's Programs
no children with us
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Every single crew person that we encountered was pleasant, patient, engaging, friendly.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
All of the common areas were well maintained and cleaned regularly. Our room steward was always on pointe and even with a plumbing issue on our hallway, the staff was very accommodating and efficient.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
For an economical inside stateroom the size and layout were acceptable. The bathroom was adequate, not tiny.
Ship tip
The onboard entertainment options are standard. (Rock wall, pool, BBall court, etc. Nothing unique.
No excursion. Some confusion trying to connect with our Uber driver at the end of the cruise. We got 2 different sets of directions as to where to wait. The first Uber driver had to cancel, because he said he couldn't get to us. The 2nd driver did better.
Absolutely beautiful. The tour guide was excellent. This was a non-Norwegian excursion. As there were about 10-12 persons from the Norwegian Gem on this tour, the guide and the bus driver did a very commendable job of managing all the planned sites and getting us back to the ship in time.
I had booked a non-Norwegian excursion and assessed that the times were compatible with the ship's arrival and departure. However, I did not know that we would be tendering to port until the day before the excursion. As Norwegian excursion guests received priority tendering passes, I had to get to the ticketing location at 7am (1 hour before docking) to ensure that we received an early tendering pass. Something to be aware of when tendering to a dock.
