Review summary

If it wasent for my family members, the cruise would not been a fun one. I have been on over 8 cruises and this cruise was the worst experience. The seas were EXTREMELY rocky, so if you experience any type of sea sickness this would have been a nightmare for you. Our stay in Bermuda was cut short an entire day, therefore we were only in port for 6 hours, which basically meant you couldn’t really do anything. The entertainment was honestly boring, nothing stood out besides the band they had B-12. The parties were bland, nothing special about them. It was my mother’s birthday and my travel agent from cheap Caribbean requested and ordered a chocolate cake for my mom and we never received that. Thankfully this isn’t my first cruise experience because if it was, I probably wouldn’t go back.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
My father was escorted on the boat with a wheelchair. That process was a little chaotic and disorganized

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was average at the main dining rooms and speciality dining rooms. Almost every protein (chicken, beef, seafood) was over cooked so I couldn’t chew half of the food. The taste was decent though and the choices at the buffet were great.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Because of the terrible weather we had at sea, pool decks and outside decks were closed due to rain and wind.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The shows in the theater were very boring. There was a singer that did three shows on three different nights but the show was exactly the same…. There was a comedian who was okay, and there was suppose to be a production show “swing” but got canceled twice due to the rocky seas. The themed parties “white hot” and “70’s” was boring. Nothing special, just a band playing that theme music.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Average. Nothing outstanding, even due to the fact we were stuck inside majority of the cruise.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Average

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was average for an inside stateroom cabin

Ship tip

It’s a small shop

Ports of call

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

1 out of 5
Nothing to do at the port, you must take a ferry outside to get to another part of Bermuda

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Quick

Maybe I'm just extremely blessed with a cruising guardian 😇 who guards me from all of these horrible NCL experiences. But Maybe the majority of these reviews come from "land lovers" who can't get their sea legs & are just not cut out for cruising in general. Try an all inclusive resort next time

Ncl issues?

Anyone seeing a pattern from previous reviews? I'm thinking they are all related somehow and have same gripes and no cruise history. So the seas are rough and somehow that's NCL's fault, well thats a stretch, cause I didn't realize that cruiselines control weather. Upper outer decks closed for bad weather, yup it happens, all you can do is make the best of it. One thing I have had reoccur on my NCL cruises is that MDR staff could be more customer service orientated. They seem to not be as happy to be there as they are on PCL. As for dissatisfaction with cruise caused by weather, I wonder how they would respond if the cruise lines let people out on outer decks in storms so that these same people can complain about being allowed out in bad weather. Safety always comes first, otherwise we would be hearing almost every day about another tragedy at sea.

A 5 day cruise with only 6 hours in port with rough weather/seas. No one wants that but it happens.

A lot of folks seem to blame the ship for the weather, like they think safety is just a buzzword and should not apply to them doing what they want to do. Was talking to some folks in the chow line last night and they said NCL was okay and repeatable, but they prefer the line we are on now.

NCL seems to be getting a lot of poor reviews.

I was on the Gem once (first and last NCL cruise). It was terrible. Even the crew didn't want to be there. This was in 2017.
