Review summary

My experience on the Gem was wonderful. Was my first cruise ever and I cant wait to do it again! Everything from embarkation to service, amenities, staff, activities, ports of call, was enjoyable and hassle free. Not once did I encounter a bad experience. Only little hiccup we had was that we had free wifi minutes included with our package and at first it charged us the full amount, internet manager resolved it and credited our minutes with no questions ask. Everyone offered excellent customer service and some even make a point to remember your name! Overall it was a wonderful experience, and I am looking forward to cruising on other Norwegians cruises and destinations.

Buffets and dinning rooms were great. Variety of options and mostly everything tasted good.

Garden Café

Loved the buffet. Specially for breakfast. Food was great and had all sort of choices. Only thing I didn't like is that they made two-three different soups a day and never once made your good old chicken noodle soup.

Gem Casino Bar

Was good, got our offer through a casino and they comps us all drinks. We had the Ultimate Beverage Package, however, it doesn't include water or energy drinks. But because our cruise offer was tru a casino, the casino bar offered these non alcoholic drinks for free to us as well. Good service, not long waits.

These were okay, I felt a lot of the activities were more gear to an older crowd. The amenities like the pool was nice, never was too crowded considering the amount of people on the ship and the size of pool as it is kinda of small. Hot tubs were nice, although the water was usually luke warm.

Tahitian Pool

Spend a lot of time on the pool deck, two bars and smoking area as well. You can get food and drinks at the bar or even have some bring you drinks at the pool or hot tub. Lots of times there was a life band or DJ. Overall a very enjoyable experience specially on days at sea

Spa

Was a great experince. Received a ladies pamper massage for 75 min and I was in heaven! A must try if you can spend the extra cash

Hot Tubs

They were okay, water was never really hot more like luke warm. they can get full quickly but overall is nice spending the morning in the hottub while sailing away

Entertainment

The shows were good, the music needs more variety. Felt like you listen to the same playlist everyday whether it was the DJ or the live band. I did however enjoy the amount of Spanish music that was played. Was a good surprise.

Was great source of entertainment.Early evening was karaoke and late night was a DJ. Had fun from singing to dancing. DJ was always open to music request

Service and Staff

I cant complain at all here. The service was always excellent, and everyone was always willing to assist. Our steward always checked on us and made sure we got everything we need it in a timely manner. Room was always clean early in the day. Bartenders were friendly and offered excellent customer service. Made a few friends at the bar! lol

They spend a lot of time cleaning the ship and making sure every day ea area was clean neat and presentable.
