Review summary

First me and my wife get on the ship and have been told due to elections going on in the bahamas our itinerary has changed. We Boarded from new york and were supposed to go to port canaveral then to great stirrup cay then nassau, Instead we were going to nassau first then great stirrup cay and our shore excursion in nassau was cancelled forcing us to book something else. we get to port canaveral everything goes fine, then nassau everything goes well. We were supposed to arrive at great stirrup cay at 8am, the captain decides to make an announcement at 7am stating that due to conditions being unsafe we won't be going to great stirrup cay. I go to the service desk on the ship and they state that we will be heading back to new york, we already had booked 2 excursions for great stirrup cay. The seas were not bad they were calm the captain made it sound like there was a storm but it was 80 degrees and water was as calm as can be. I talk to a manager to see what can be done for us as i paid almost $2,000 for this trip and had my itinerary changed, my shore excursion cancelled and only got to visit 2 of the 3 ports i paid to visit. The manager stated theres nothing they can do and dont give on board credit to customers and stated that i would have to call customer relations and speak to them. I call customer relations and they tell me i have to submit a claim on the norweigan website, so what exactly was the point of the supervisor telling me to call customer relations? was it to get me out her face so they wouldn't have to deal with their mistake? The gentlman i spoke to said there has been times that ships have pulled into a port to dock and have turned right around. This is definitely a company you dont want to deal with, I'm not rich by any means at all so playing around with $2,000 isn't exactly the thing to do for me. I dont expect all if my money back and i dont want credit for a future cruise as I WILL NEVER EVER BOOK A CRUISE WITH NORWEGIAN, but i would at least like a third of my money back as i only got to visit 2 out of 3 ports i paid to visit. oh and there was actually a couple on board who was supposed to get married at great stirrup cay, so go figure.....smh, shame on norwegian for not caring about there customers and not doing anything to work with them.

We felt the same way.  We also found the crew to be unfriendly.  Next time, try Carnival.

"The seas were not bad they were calm the captain made it sound like there was a storm but it was 80 degrees and water was as calm as can be. " It truly amazes me when people decide they know better about sea conditions by looking out their window than a seasoned sea captain who has sailed the seas for years, pulled into this port dozens (if not hundreds,) of times, has constant communication from NOAA, the port authorities, the harbor master, and pilot captain.

It seems like it's happening a lot I hope that nothing will get cancelled on my trip 😳

LOL!!!! I'm so glad you'll never cruise NCL again. I won't ever have to deal with you.

Gee would you rather have gone off ship in an unsafe port and some tragic event occur? It is NOT NCL fault all you are entitled to it a refund for the excursion booked and port fees. If you don't know how to go with the flow when cruising the you shouldn't cruise

I pray I don't miss this port this time round as I did in 2014. it happens but to allow ur trip to be ruined (or one star) becuz of it is ON U!!!! a third of ur money back for a missed port, nah on that missed port ur still suppose to enjoy urself. that is ur responsibility. NCL gives u the platform to have an incredible vacation. I'm sorry u missed ur chance worrying about a missed port. did u starve when u missed that port, but u want a third of ur money back. come on man. my vacation rained every day of the week and still I had a blast on the breakaway. was I bumbed of course. did I blame the cruise line, no. and I damn sure didn't let it stop me from enjoying myself I can only hope ur next cruise whom ever it should be with. u do the same. after all $2000 is a lot of money to waste bitchin about the lil things. now if u did enjoy the cruise missed port and all I suggest u rethink the one star 🌟.

ncl did refund the port charges for gsc & any cancelled excursions. all cruise lines miss ports at time for different reasons. i was also disappointed to miss gsc but realize those ate the chances you take. my issue is that i believe we were misinformed as to why we missed this port.

Missed ports happen on all cruise lines and they have no obligation to refund you. It stinks and all, but staying away from NCL won't fix that for you. They were safety decisions made by crew, and they don't like making customers mad for the fun of it.

If you read the contract you agree to before you go on the cruise it states that the itinerary can and will be changed if the ship deems necessary. This was not Norwegians fault. I have been on 2 cruises where we missed a port. One was for social unrest in Bali and the other was for bad storm in Cannes France. It happens on every single cruise line out there.

We have missed a port before as well and it was disappointing. You're not the first person I've heard disappointment from. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise and hope something gets resolved for you. They should've at least refunded your fees for the port missed
