Review summary

We booked the Norwegian Gem last minute and were a bit apprehensive. We were unable to get a balcony, but the staterooms were of good quality, and our window was large, even though we were only on the 5th floor. The buffet is chaotic always. This is a shame as there is so much food, but people seem to think it will run out and will generally push and overload their plates. However, the food in the Magenta and Grand Pacific were excellent, and we spent most of our time at the Great Outdoors, which is also a buffet but a little less chaotic. Staff were ALL friendly and seemed very genuine. I think it is a better option to automatically take tips from guests as this makes life easier. A little less easy to make friends, since you never sit at the same seat or with the same people, but that was not important to us as we made friends in other ways. Shows were good, ship very clean, generally a fantastic week. I would recommend.

As above, people's greed at the buffets is the only thing that spoils it, but that happens on every cruise.
