First and last cruise with... by Giriffraffe

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

First and last cruise with NCL. The Balcony room was awesome and the ship was very clean. But compared to other cruise lines, this ship only had one adult pool, and only a handful of complimentary restaurants. The restaurants where you have to pay are amazing. I definitely recommend buying a specialty dining and beverage package, which is honestly ridiculous as you’re already paying a lot, and again other cruise lines have this included, but it does come in handy. All the food was great, even the buffet, but every night we all felt sick to our stomachs. Maybe because the food is very heavy and rich...? Most staff were great, but some couldn’t even give you a straight answer for simple questions. Also some of the rules this ship had was ridiculous- like closing the top deck around 8pm while people are still on it, and only getting new pool towels if you had your old ones with you. There are a lot of things to do on board but nothing special as other cruise lines have the same things going on. I also didn’t like how many people were on the ship, but I went with a group of 13 for a family vacation so I didn’t exactly get to choose what ship we were going on. I felt like a sardine every time I had to get in an elevator. I also hated the fact I had to bring my room card with me everywhere and when we went to specialty dining the staff would take our cards twice and it took forever to get them back. Bermuda itself was amazing, I wish we were there longer. I will go back but I will fly in and stay at a resort where all inclusive actually means all inclusive!

Wonderful except the ring worm I contracted at the spa by JessicaMichael

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

I enjoyed the cruise and have scheduled another however I don't think I would use the spa ever again in fear that I will catch something again. Very disappointing as I spent $355.00 there for a massage and have to come home with a fungal infection on my skin. I am very unhappy about this!

Overall, sailing on Norwegian Escape... by eugee624

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Overall, sailing on Norwegian Escape was an amazing vacation experience. Navigating the ship is very easy, the staff are all welcoming and friendly, and the stateroom accommodations are nicely laid out and comfortable. There are so many activities to do each day on the Freestyle Daily. The range of dining and bar options on board is huge. Don't miss Pincho Tapas bar if you enjoy small plates with some lovely drinks. Food Republic was another big highlight of the trip. The menu is fantastic, definitely a great fusion of items to choose from. The ship itself is huge and the outdoor activities are really fun. The main pool is a relaxing saltwater pool with live music and fun games being played poolside. The water slides are super fun, and never very crowded, making it easy to go on the slides over and over again, especially port days! Be sure to try the Aqua Racer tube slide. The ropes course was one of the highlights of the trip. Nothing like the feeling of being high up on those rope obstacles overlooking the side of the ship. Make sure to check out the Thermal Suite in the Mandara Spa, you won't regret it. It is certainly one of my favorite aspects of the Breakaway class of ships. The snow room feels incredible after a long sit in the steam room or saunas, and a nap in one of the heated loungers is perfect for relaxing. The entertainment on board Norwegian Escape is very good. There are live bands playing almost every night, comedians, dueling piano shows, and themed parties at night. After Midnight the Broadway show on board is an amazing show full of very talented dancers and performers. The song and dance is not to be missed. Brenda Braxton is superb. Don't miss it!

Oh what a beautiful ship and destination by smilemakrr

Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

If you’re a beach lover then Bermuda is the place for you. I’m a travel agent and sell so much of the Bermida itinerary each year I decided to give it a try. Wow was I surprised, this is nature preserved beauty at its best. You have your choice of about 20 different beach areas all over the island. Most are very easy to get to as well. And if you like a calm beach there are many to choose from some have rocky areas that attract marine life. Some are full of waves with nearby lagoons shallow enough fir children. One of the most pleasing surprises is that this island is very safe. I never felt like I had it watch my back or risk losing my valuables at any time. The public transportation available on the island is top notch and so are the locals. Don’t hesitate to try this 3 day island stop cruise on for size I bet it will fit anyone just right.

Enjoyed our cruise! Beautiful and... by Ellen413

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Enjoyed our cruise! Beautiful and clean ship. For the Record and After midnight were great shows. We ate at Moderno Churascaria the steak was too raw for my liking but the tres leches chocolate cake was to die for. Cagney's steak house cooked my steak perfectly and was delicious. Teppanyaki was my favorite , the rice was sooo good and the shrimp was the best I've had, the filet mignon which was well done the way I asked for was still soo tender. The only negative was the chicken too salty and the green tea cake was gross. The ropes course was fun. I would recommend this ship.

Room 12766 This was a... by mkd716

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Room 12766 This was a birthday cruise for my 50th bday and my daughter’s 12th. Everyone on the ship was so friendly. Our room was very nice and the balcony was great. The room was in a great location. Near the elevators but not too close so it wasn’t crowded. The specialty restaurants were awesome. We did Cagney’s for my daughter’s bday. I brought a 12 candle to sing happy birthday to her. Being that you can’t light them, the servers took the votives from all the tables and surrounded her cake! What a great idea! We did Teppanyaki for my birthday and the food was delicious and the hibachi was so entertaining.. many laughs. Go see Choir of Man. They were AWESOME! Don’t let the menu change your mind. If you’re not liking bangers and mash, you can always go to the Garden Cafe after. The Brat Pack was great. My favorite was the teacher hahaha. All 4 of us did the ropes course and I walked the plank. Be adventurous and do it! As you would expect, getting a chair on the warm days was a challenge. Bermuda was absolutely beautiful and the perfect weather. All in all, even though it was chilly at times, my family and I had a great cruise on the Escape. Would love to go again when the weather is warmer out of NY. Oh.. and give a high five to the Happy Happy Washy Washy guy! He is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!

Ship: Norwegian Escape

We went to Bermuda in May 2018 on the Escape and it was absolutely incredible. I plan on doing it every year while the Escape is in New York. It’s just like the Breakaway but better. I can’t wait until I am on the Escape again!

Just returned from the NCL... by peglautier

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Just returned from the NCL Escape cruise to Bermuda April 22-29. My husband and I sailed with my 88 year old mom and my cousin. The ship was too large for mom but we made sure she was comfortable with a balcony room. We did not love this ship as much as the Gem and the Breakaway. It has a lot of kinks to work out. It seems ill managed in regards to the hotel part of the cruise and the pool area is too small and crowded. Keeping things positive: There were several highlights of this cruise for me. The entertainment was great! The musicians and singers in Howl at the Moon were so much fun! The Choir of Man was an amazing show and I loved their voices. I had fun being on stage with them too! After Midnight was fabulous too. The magician and all three comedians did not disappoint. We laughed until our faces hurt! The dinners at Cagneys, La Cucina and Le Bistro were excellent, but we also enjoyed every meal at the Manhattan Room. Our balcony room was very comfortable and we found the bathroom to be a nice size. We enjoyed the bars and lounges too; the bartenders knew their stuff! All and all, we had a lot of good experiences.

Not what we expected by Djaesmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

We had a serious medical emergency on the ship that was well addressed by the medical staff, but the rest of the staff made us feel like the underdog. I want you to know that we are NOT a high maintenance family, but we do appreciate compassion and respect as a paying customer. Again, I understand that the medical emergency was NOT the fault of the ship; however, we should not have been treated any lesser because of it. We should not have had to go through so many inconvenient situations just because the NCL staff is not prepared to handle situations beyond their control. without exaggeration, we had to visit customer service at least 4 times a day due to malfunctioning key cards, unjustified charges to our account, mixed up beverage packages on our accounts, etc. etc. I hope that NCL will seriously take some of these issues into consideration when reassessing their staff and ship conditions.

An Experience by jlaronca

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Noticed meeting for solo travelers, Friends of Bill W., The gay crowd but not for Veterans. Every other cruise I have been on had meetings scheduled. The other thing we observed was the number of people entering the buffet without washing their hands. Don't think we will book the Escape again. Prefer the Breakaway and the Dawn.

Nothing impressive. Embarkation from Manhattan... by naris

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Nothing impressive. Embarkation from Manhattan was horrible. The ship arrived 4 hours late so we had to wait in a line for 4 hours. Escape did not explain why they arrived late or apologize. I had to spend my valuable time standing at the port. Food was bad . Salty and dry. Same food over and over again at the buffet with a very limited selection. Lame seafood night and asian night. It was a joke. Manhattan, Savor, and Taste share the same menu. Dont be fooled by the different names. Some crews were kind and some were not which was expected. Too many people with a small pool and limited hot tubs was not pleasant. No more Norwegian ever again.

NCL Escape. Didn’t Meet Expectations by kergan66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Sadly, I really can’t recommend this ship. It’s large, crowded, only has one pool, and our food in the main or free dining areas was pedestrian and unremarkable. The coffee, other than the restaurants which use LaVazza, and the cafe ( Starbucks ), was really bad. Undrinkable. Worst of any ship I have ever been on. Embarkation was a mess, but It really was several things coming together at one time. It left Florida late due to CG inspection. Tide issues prevented it from going under the Verrazano Bridge, and whatever else. However, NCL could have handled the situation better than telling people to go out and see NY for a couple of hours. This was the first embarkation that did not go smoothly for us. We will try and stick to the Gem. Oh, and now NCL did Away with chocolate on the pillows 😢 Overall rating is showing 4 stars, but it should be 3 - 3 1/2

Great cruise. by cso17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I loved the escape. It has the best flow of all the boats I’ve been on. I made reservations before I got on the boat so I had dinner & saw the shows I wanted to. If you make dinner reservations for early times 5:30-6:00 pm there was time to make it to shows at 7:30. You can also let your waiter know you have a show so they can bring your food quicker. I only ate in the free dinning rooms & had excellent food. The buffet was busy for breakfast so I ate at O’Sheehan’s. People saved deck chairs by the pool so they were had to got sobI usuallly went to Spice H2O (adult only) & you could usually find chairs & there is a bar back there with servers. There was a waterfall area where you could get as wet as you wanted.

Ship: Norwegian Escape

Incredible ship, incredible shows, incredible food. I loved it! Staff was very friendly and helpful, the stops were great. For how many people were on the ship it sure didn’t seem to be over crowded. The speed slides were awesome and the tube slide was a blast. Good job on a wonderful ship NCL!
