Review summary

Nothing impressive. Embarkation from Manhattan was horrible. The ship arrived 4 hours late so we had to wait in a line for 4 hours. Escape did not explain why they arrived late or apologize. I had to spend my valuable time standing at the port. Food was bad . Salty and dry. Same food over and over again at the buffet with a very limited selection. Lame seafood night and asian night. It was a joke. Manhattan, Savor, and Taste share the same menu. Dont be fooled by the different names. Some crews were kind and some were not which was expected. Too many people with a small pool and limited hot tubs was not pleasant. No more Norwegian ever again.

I actually thought the food in the buffet was better than the main dining. We ate at a few up charge restaurants and they were worth every penny. O ‘Sheehan’s has great pub food and the sushi in food republic was tasty as well. Main pool was always crowded for sure. But 4k ppl its going to be. My only complaint was the smell of smoke from the casino. I made sure to avoid it. I have read they are putting a closed off smoking section in the Escape casino so thats good news.

I take it cruising isn't for you. Based on your profile this is your first cruise. Why would you book a mega ship for your first cruise? Not that you cant but I always advise anyone thinking about cruising to book an older smaller ship and do your research on how many people, the size and so on. The escape i believe is Norwegians largest capacity ship. If you would have just done your research I don't think you would have had a bad experience. Also about the food most buffet food on any ship is sub par, but to say they don't have a lot of options is not true. Again with the research you would have known that savor and taste are the same restaurant and serve the same food. It is also complimemtary so the food is going to be not 5 stars but still awesome. Thats the reason Norwegian offers so many other food options that you can pay for or you could have gone to O'sheehans for pub style food. Based on your review mega ships are not for you. I've noticed this with almost all bad reviews of the escape people complain about the amount of people and pool and jacuzzi overcrowding of course they are going to be overcrowded with almost 4300 people on a ship. Try a smaller ship next time. I bet you'll have a better time but do your research before you post misinformation.

Everyone I know received messages that the ship would be 4 hrs late and to NOT show up early or you would be waiting for several hours. It was the 1st time Escape came to NY need to expect delays. As for food, everyone's taste buds are different but I love it. Francesca814 you will have an amazing time!!!

Escape is fantastic! Is there any of these mega ships that have pool space for everyone? NO! Get out of bed and get to the pool each morning! 3 complimentary dining will have same menu on a given night, but half of menu changes nightly.

Loved the Escape. Did 2 cruises on that ship. Yes the menu is the same in all 3 complementary dining room but it replaces the concept on one main dining room found on other cruise line. The food on NCL ships is not the best but still good. And I don’t have to cook or clean. So everything is good for me.

Sorry about your experience. If I don't go on the Escape I will never know for myself! I read so many things about the pool space, I just thought this is the norm? The past couple cruises we maybe didn't have front row pool seats but we would at least get in for a dip. We have met some of the nicest people at the pool or hot tubs. Happy future cruising⚓🛳

Escape my fav ship so far so dont go by others. Judge for self. Ive done over 10 ships and Escape easily the best!!! So far. Hope Getaway is great too. Got her next... this weekend actually :)

We enjoyed the Escape, but completely agree that the pool is too small. I never expect much when it comes to cruise food and we try to eat on the Islands. We found breakfast on the ship to be their best meal. Royal Caribbean does have better food, but we primarily cruise NCL.

Bummer! I guess it’s not a good idea to read negative reviews when looking forward to your sailing. Regardless, I’m optimistic that it will be great, and counting on having a fabulous time!
