First Time In Bermuda by carly18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Be sure on Wednesday night to take ferry to Hamilton for street fair...7PM-9:30PM. There are local artisans with jewelry and crafts and Front Street where it is located has lots of places to eat and drink. Get Ferry token at the information booth near ferries and check the schedule so you know when to leave. Don't pay extra for a large mini suite...not worth the bucks. Only the balcony is larger, not the room and people on upper decks look right down on your balcony. Be on the right side of the ship to see the Statue of Liberty as you leave the harbor for photos. We found a taxi driver to take us to pink sand beaches and give us a more personal tour than the ones the ship was doing.

We had a really amazing... by Kwachob

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

We had a really amazing cruise. The food was fantastic, my balcony room was bigger than the hotel room I stayed in the night before the cruise, and Brat Pack was really good. The staff were attentive and worked really hard to make this a great experience. The adult pool was small and crowded so I mostly stuck to the family pool which had less people in it and the sun deck was wonderful with very few people on it. I didn’t even try to get a pool lounge since there’s tons of people there and I prefer a place that’s a little more quiet. There’s loads of loungers if you don’t care about being right next to the pool. Bermuda is one of the cleanest places I’ve ever been. The people who live there are very friendly and I can’t wait to return. Things are pretty expensive there but that’s because everything has to be imported. We took 2 excursions. Restless native catamaran and Bermuda Hidden Gems tour and I will take these again the next time I go. Hidden Gems is the best thing to do if you like adventure. A couple of tips- Avoid the buffet on embarkation day. It’s extremely crowded at that time and hard to find a seat. Instead head to one of the MDR’s. On debarkation if you don’t have to be off of the ship really early for travel arrangements then take your time. Sleep in a little and have a nice breakfast. When we tried to get get off around 8am it was hard to find the end of the line to get off and that was frustrating. Next time I go I won’t be in such a hurry to get off. I’d rather spend an extra hour on the ship rather than sitting in Grand Central for that hour waiting for the train.

Awesome Magical Vacation by kjjarema

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Just got back from an amazing cruise to Bermuda. I will give my honest opinion of the ship and the trip. Pro’s-The ship is beautiful and is always clean. Had a balcony room on 11th floor. Very spacious. Cabin Stewart was AWESOME. Told him the trip was for 25th wedding anniversary and one evening we came back to a decorated room with champagne, rose petals and a pair of swan towel animals. Food was very good. Service at dining rooms was fast. Never waited very long. Did not do specialty dining. The shows are AMAZING. Brat Pack, After Midnight and Choir of Men. Howl at the Moon was good as were the comedians. Musician on board are talented watched In-Ovation a lot. BERMUDA is wonderful. Hint, go to Hamilton on Wednesday. After 7:00 they have a street fair. Went to snorkel park first day. (We went with excursion package). Crowded but very manageable. Did not see many colorful fish. Take the free ferry to St George. Walked to Fort St Catherine. Great views. Plan was to swim at Tobacco Beach but next to St Catherine’s there was a beautiful little beach located at Blackbeard Hideout. So we swam there and had lunch. Maybe my favorite part of the entire trip. Did sightseeing. Unfinished Church and St Peters are not to be missed. Did the Bermuda Triangle nighttime glass bottom boat. Was good. Great to hear about the reef system. Last day we did Rising Sun Catamaran. AWESOME. Was great to hear about the island from a lifelong resident. Did the ropes course. Intense. Con’s-Rude people. For the most part everyone we met was very nice, but a few can ruin it at times. Witness the fight on the pool deck that people got arrested for. People cutting at buffet line. There are designated smoking spots but some think if you are outside you can smoke. Manhattan restaurant, food was good but was crowded and loud. Had to talk over the music that they play. Shows “selling” out. The minute you get on board, sign up for the free shows. Told ourselves that we will not pay for a show, but we did for Choir of Men. Awesome show but the dinner was not very good. Saving deck chairs is a problem and will always be a problem. You can find one. You just have to keep going up. Got into Spice H2O only once. If you do not get a chair by 10:00. Forget it. Forget getting a chair by the pool. Dis-embarkment was TERRIBLE. Tag in our room said to be by our luggage in the terminal by 9:00. They start calling colors. Did not call ours, so called costumer service. They said we would be called at 9:00. At 9:00 our color was not called so we got in line. And what a line it was. We got to our luggage at 10:30. Not sure if they go through this every week, but what a disaster. Observations-Lots of kids. And I mean little, little ones. Not sure how the parents can enjoy their vacations. Many Families. Three generations on board. Need to have a water filling station. We filled our bottles at the buffet even though it said not to. Atrium is a nice lounge but a terrible location to host what they host. Need another theater or something. Casino is in the middle of the ship, not bad but there is smoking and at times can get pretty bad. Picture taking will take up the entire hallway and even on the stairs and you can’t get by. Makes no sense. My opinion Vibe is a waste of space. It caters to only a few and you have to get onboard early to get a pass. Or give everyone a chance to attend. Make that space another pool, maybe a quiet pool. The main pool is very loud and very small. Call me old fashion but I believe that at the dining rooms men should wear slacks and a collared shirt. Did not do any of the specialty dining. Did not want to spend money on something that was already included in the price (even though we did attend Choir of Men, more for show and not for food). Free Unlimited drink package was nice. There are Bars everywhere you go. All of the bartenders were great. Everyone we met was very nice, saying that I would guess at least half the ship was from NY, New Jersey or Boston. Waiting for elevators was never really a problem. Coffee at Buffet was OK in flavor but extremely hot in temperature. Overall, the trip was AMAZING. Cannot wait to get back.

Wonderful time with the family by cwags70

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

We had a wonderful time on our cruise however there were some things we did not like. The pool is way too small, it was always crowded. You will have a hard time getting a lounge chair on Deck 16 and 17. If you are a smoker there are 4 spots. The Casino on deck 7, on Deck 8 there is a lounge inside (be prepared its really smoky in there). On Deck 17 you can smoke at the bar above the pool and at H2O which is in the back of the ship. The food at the Garden Café (Buffet) was okay. The food at Taste and Savor were much better. The staterooms are small which was expected. All in all we had a nice time and enjoyed ourselves but I will not go on the Escape again.

Ship: Norwegian Escape

The ship is definitely a beautiful ship. There are pros and cons when it comes to a large ship such as the Escape. It all comes down to what you make of it. All in all we went with a group of nine people and had a great time. Of course you can always make everybody happy, but hopefully you can overcome the little things and enjoy your trip.

Nice Ship but lacking in some areas. by Ddancers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

Overall we had a Very Good time, but ship was not one of our favorites and pool was much too small for amount of people on board. Food was Very Good as well as restaurant service. - Mini Suite has a Great shower. Also bring a reusable straw with you for mixed drink because plastic straws were banded as far as issuing them and it's not certain they will be replaced with paper. Mud Slides are a lot easier to drink with a straw. Have a Great Cruise.

Fantastic! by JRBrandes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

My wife and I had an excellent time. The food, activities, staff, and entertainment were all superb. I had read many reviews on this site prior to my cruise, and would like to offer my perspective. Many have criticized the overly crowded ship, the grumpy, unhelpful staff, and the food. This was my first cruise, so I don't have any reference for comparison. But, the only crowds we encountered were at embarkation and at the pool. I cannot get on NCL for a lengthy embarkation process. The ship holds over 4,000 vacationers. It takes time! If that's a problem for you, then book your vacation on a smaller vessel! I will admit that the pool area seemed crowded. Having said that, most seemed to be enjoying themselves, including others in the group with which I was traveling. My wife and I are not pool people, so these crowds were of little consequence to us. I've read where pool areas on most ships are crowded. Escape is no different. It is difficult to get a chaise lounge, but there seems to be a reasonable protocol: get there early, and don't leave yours unattended for too long, as it will be forfeited (and rightfully so, IMHO). We did not find any of the staff to be grumpy. They were all attentive, ready with a smile and a "Good Morning/Afternoon." On the few occasions where we needed help, the staff was very accommodating. As for food, the buffet had a wide variety. The main dining rooms had varied menus, as well. We had the dining package and enjoyed meals at Moderno, Le Bistro, Cagney's and La Cucina. All were excellent, though I enjoyed Moderno and Cagney's the most. We did not purchase any excursions on the ship, but had pre-arranged a jet ski-snorkel tour on our own. This resulted in a very reasonable price and extra careful attention from our tour guide.

Amazing cruise!!! Lots to do,... by musician43

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Amazing cruise!!! Lots to do, eat and the weather was beautiful. The entire crew in every area works very hard. I found them all to be personable and friendly. The only issue I had was not NCL's fault at all. It had to do with the lack of manners and rudeness from other passengers. Saying please, thank you etc... goes a long way. Many passengers cut people in line, shoved into people etc.. The most disheartening was observing how some passengers just plowed through disabled guests in wheel chairs and walkers. So rude I finally had to open up my mouth on the last day. Great cruise and ship and can't wait to go back. Just remember your manners so ALL can enjoy their vacation.

Just returned from Bermuda on... by Jayhorv

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Just returned from Bermuda on the Escape. Not sure I could find a negative thing to say about the cruise. We upgraded 3 meals and it was great. We also ate in the 3 included main dinning rooms. Never had a bad meal there either. More then enough food options for everyone's taste. A little secret if you are on the lounging out in the sun and want a drink quick go down in the buffet there is a bar in there that no one ever uses. No frozen drink though. Make sure you get up early if you want a choice of chairs on the decks. We got up between 6:30-7:00 got our chairs then went to eat breakfast. You can leave your chair unattended for at least an hour without any issue. A lot of people complain about not enough chairs but it's not a big secret. There is not enough chairs for all the people on the ship. Just get up early and save yourself the aggravation. We were on floor ten mid ship. Very quite and close to most food and entertainment. Employees very friendly and helpful for the most part. Everyone has a bad day every now and then. We are human. Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. We used the on site parking. Right upstairs from the terminal. No reservations accepted so get there between 10:30-11:30. Cost 280$ but you are right there. We carried our luggage out so we got in line to get off ship at 8:15 and I was at home about 70 mile away by 1010. Enjoy your trip don't let little things bother you. Trip goes quick.

My husband and I sailed... by laurende914

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

My husband and I sailed in June on the NCL Escape to Bermuda for our honeymoon. It was absolutely fantastic ! We typically sail on another cruise line so we wanted to try something a little different because it was a special occasion, and we were not disappointed. We had a balcony room on the 10th floor mid ship which we liked because it was kind of in the middle of everything. Our room was spotless and overall the ship was impressively clean. The buffet consistently offered a many options for food. We also enjoyed the speciality dining. Cagney’s and Tepanyaki were our absolute favorites. We had the ultimate beverage package and the bartenders were always helpful and often ordered two beers or beverages at once. We were pleasantly surprised at how the staff monitored seats by the pool. They strictly adhered to and enforced the time limit for taking up /reserving chairs and not using them. Which was good because we all know how frustrating that can be. The entertainment and music was excellent. Bermuda was wonderful. Overall this was a fantastic trip and I highly recommend it to anyone ! We enjoyed the Escape and NCL so much we booked the Getaway for our anniversary the day we got back.

Took this cruise with my... by pmlane

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Took this cruise with my friend and our four kids to celebrate 3 of the four kids high school and college graduations. First embarkment was quite easy. Check in was a bit time consuming, but there was six of us. We waited about 30 minutes for our boarding number to be called. Our rooms were ready but luggage did not arrive to our room until 7pm even though we got there at 930am. Room The kids had interior rooms which were the smallest I have ever seen. Fir the price I would have gotten them each a studio room! My friend and I had a balcony. The room was very comfortable and our room steward was great. Plenty of space for 2 people and we used the balcony every day! It was not as tight as some said Restaurants We opted for the UDP and the Dining package. The French bistro was a disappointment, compared to the NCL Epic. We filled out a comment card and from that night on the dining staff made sure we were well taken care of! Use those cards they do make a difference and make your complaints honest! The steakhouse and the Italian restaurant were both very good. The boys in the group opted for the Brazilian Steakhouse, which they loved! Food in the main dining rooms were excellent. I though the wine choices on the UDP were adequate. Pool area. This is the reason for the 3 stars the pool area was one big spring break with people hogging chairs and falling over drunk. There was no control on how much people were drinking. Twice they closed hot tubs because people got sick. I am all for fun but when you let people get out of control drunk it ruins it for people around them. Large screen TV At Spice was hard to see poor quality. Made it difficult to watch game( which bartenders can’t control TV) The spice area was nice but again saved seats and the bar was always packed and you can never get into the hot tubs. The grotto was great to cool off in Entertainment Brat pack show was awful! I’m a child of the 80’s and it almost ruined all John Hughes films for me 😏 Dueling pianos and comedy shows were great! I would go on Escape again, if I get the Haven so I don’t have to deal with the pool crowds

Awesome First Cruise! by CBTick

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

This was our first ever cruise and my husband and I loved it. On the downside, it was a bit overcrowded at times and the pool area was too loud and filled with young people who were inebriated. But we loved all other aspects of the ship and our trip. From our cabin to the restaurants to the “Waterfront” promenade area (my favorite) to the very friendly staff, we thought NCL provided an excellent value. The ship was clean and well appointed and activities and entertainment were enjoyable.

Great cruise for a group by seisenstein

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Escape / Destination: Bermuda

These large cruise ships are really great options for large groups wanting an experience they can all share together. A lot to do for all ages. Good food, good entertainment, and all around good time. The drink package is a must and all the bars were excellent. You really can do this cruise low budget (only eat in free locations and limit excursions) or you can spend a lot (eat at all the up charge restaurants). Bermuda is a great island, very clean, friendly, and some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. This was a good time for our family group celebrating birthdays and being together. I would do it again and if you can splurge for The Heaven, do it.

Just got home from my... by jessmain10

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

Just got home from my first cruise and it was more perfect than I thought it was going to be! The staff were amazing and always so friendly and there to help. The dining was great, we went to Cagneys, Teppanyaki, Moderno, the Manhattan, o Sheehan’s, & Taste. Our favorite was absolutely Teppanyaki! The expierence was just so much fun and you got A TON of food. Definitely go hungry. Cagney’s was our second favorite, the food was amazing there. We didn’t care too much for Moderno but it wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t our kind of dinner. The complimentary restaurants were great! So many options and the food was just as good as the specialty restaurants. The pool area was fun, we had vibe passes so we didn’t spend too much time on the main deck but from what I saw there were always open chairs. They may not have always been in the favorite places but there were plenty of spaces to hang out near the pool. In my opinion there are soo many things to do on board that we couldn’t sit in a chair for hours, but if you did want to the top deck there’s a lot of chairs that people don’t use because it’s away from the pool but gets plenty of sun. The entertainment was great!! We played bingo, watched deal or no deal and all of the other little games and shows they had around the ship. Howl at the Moon was so much fun! The staff were very fun and entertaining themselves. My favorite bar has to be tobacco bar on deck 7 I believe. They had a lot of great tastings there for different alcohols. Bermuda! We rented a moped, which I DO NOT recommend if you are not VERY experienced with riding motorcycles. The locals are great but they are very aggressive drivers and you have to keep up with them and watch out for them or there will probably be an accident happening. But with the moped we were able to travel the island and hit up all the main beaches multiple times and the hidden beaches. It was great to be able to explore on our own. Excursions! The only excursions I would recommend would be the ones where they actually take you out and snorkel or scuba. Even so you can rent snorkel gear at all the beaches and see fish. I saw a ton. At the pier they have a ton of busses going to all the beaches and back for way less than what you would pay NCL. Over all the vacation was perfect and I would go again in a heart beat! The only downsides were that we were jipped when buying a watch. They sell watches and jewelry at huge discounts some days of the cruise. Especially the second to last day. My bf bought a watch, we checked the price when we got back home of that watch and a couple others and they were on clearance on the actual watch website for wayy less than what he bought it for. So pleaseee price check before buying if you can find someone with the internet package. I also only got one towel animal wahh..but I was still happy, our room looked amazing after they did it every time. If anyone has any questions you can message me!

We returned from our awesome... by Jewellr

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Escape

We returned from our awesome cruise on the Escape today. Embarkment and dis embarkment went smoothly. We loved the shows, and games they had for entertainment. I loved the fact that I didn’t have to meal plan, cook or clean up for the week. So the buffet and a few of the restaurants we went to were good for us. My daughters went to splash academy a few hours a day and a few late nights. They are 9 and loved it!! The kids also love virgin drinks, the strawberry daiquiri and mudslide was such a treat for them by the pool. The only thing I didn’t care for was how crowded the kids pool was on sea days but we made the best of it and went on the water slides and did other things when it was to much. Also, my girls do not have passports and their father was not with us. All I needed was their birth certificates, I did not need to fill out a form because I was with them. I did make copies of them to bring for when were were in Bermuda so I didn’t ruin the official ones and they said that was ok. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to book our next cruise! :)
