Review summary

I'm a cruiseaholic and I love just about any cruises but I've gotten more and more picky about what I like better and expect on my cruises. We've taken all of my family 3 Children and their entire families on several cruises and they like the Carnival and NCL cruises best because they like the activities on these ships. My wife and I prefer better food and entertainment and a quieter atmosphere.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everyone was courteous and it was quick and easy, it was one of the better ones we've ever had.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Every crew member and waiters were very courteous and tried their best but getting our food took forever and was just warm most of the time. Bars were over crowded and slow and took a long time to put in our order ( not the bartenders fault, too many people, lots of intoxicated people).

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Most of the activities were mostly geared for young people not for the elderly. Long lines at the rope course, mini golf, slides, not worth standing in lines that long.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Choir of Men was excellent. Also the band that paid tribute to the Rumors album (Fleetwood Mac) and Prom theme, were excellent except that the venue was way to small, never had seats, overcrowded. The rest were so-so.

Children's Programs

Our children are adults and participated at adult activities

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Overall the service was great, from room stewards, waiters, most of the crew members that we interacted with were great. It was a holiday cruise, lots of kids, college kids, rowdy family members, drunks. etc. We'll probably skip holiday and school recess cruises and stick to our usual transatlantic/pacific cruises and cruises when we hope, not many children will be on board.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The crew tried their best, they were always seen cleaning but were over worked trying to clean up all the messes that drunks left behind including throw ups in the elevators and bathrooms. Ship design was okay. could use more storage, charging ports (USB). The closets were difficult to get to.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Overall very nice, like I mentioned previously, needs more storage, USB ports, and accessibility to the closet difficult especially for the elderly. Our room stewardess was very good and kept everything clean and tidy, no complains.

Ship tip

NCL is basically designed for the younger generations and we picked it mainly for the our adult children and their family (It was their Christmas present),and they enjoyed.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We love cruising out of this port because we live so close.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
We've been here so many times, we could be tour guides which we were for our family.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

2 out of 5
Boring island, not much to do. Been here several times, not much else to do here.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
My family and I were very pleasantly surprised on our first visit here. This island spend a lot of money to design and build a beautiful resort type area for cruisers to enjoy right off the pier. We loved it and hope to come her more often, much better than Tortola.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Probably one of the best and fastest disembarkation we've had in our 30+ cruise disembarkations.
