Review summary

Nice trip - loved seeing the fall colors. Glad we had a balcony room to view the Statue of Liberty going out and coming back. Nice and/or interesting people on board and the ship was well run. Loved the Japanese restaurant and Manhattan Room.

Embarkation

Our plane was late getting into New York, so we arrived even after when they said you had to be on board. Therefore on the good side, we missed the long lines that I heard everybody talking about, but on the bad side, we were quite anxious that the ship would not let us on. My advice fly in the day ahead.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining rooms were OK. We especially liked the Manhattan room as it seemed to be well run more spacious and staff that was terrific. We went to two specialty restaurants. We went to La Cucina as we couldn’t get into Cagney’s no matter when we tried, and were happy we went there. It was very good. The most fun dinner we had at the Japanese steakhouse. The food was delicious, and the chefs who cook it at your table sang, and the whole table sang along with them.

Onboard Activities

We did some of the activities on the ship. We like watching some of the games, especially trivia games and even participated in one. We went to a movie that was nice. Did a little shopping but that was it.

Entertainment

We love the choir of man and we’re surprised by the company man they were good just not what we expected. Maybe that’s just us. Couldn’t really get into any of the other shows even though we tried I guess you’ve gotta be there first on a large ship

Ship Quality

Did not like having the smoking area being in the middle of the deck in the casino

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This cabin works really well for the two of us. It was in the back of the ship so we could easily go up to the garden café for breakfast or get to any of the other dining rooms. It was kept really clean by a very good steward whom we actually never really saw. It had enough storage after we put our bags under the beds.

Just ran through it…

Newport, Rhode Island

Really liked this port. Very pretty and clean. Nice little shopping area within walking of the ship with great stores! Apparently there is a free trolley that will take you sightseeing but we only found out about it when we were heading back to the ship.

Portland, Maine

We went on a windjammer cruise. I was looking forward to the sailing, but since there was no breeze, there was no sailing. In retrospect, I’d probably go on a sightseeing type of excursion.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
Loved love loved Bar Harbor. I would go back there in a heartbeat. We went on an excursion to Arcadia national park that was absolutely beautiful fall colors on the trip and the views from the top of the mountains were just what we were looking for. Then, back in town the lobster rolls and other food was excellent! Fun strolling the beautiful bayside area and shopping!

Saint John, New Brunswick Did not visit port

Couldn’t find anything we wanted to do and it looked very commercial

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Wonderful excursion to Peggy’s Cove. Our guide was full of information about the area. Nice to learn some Canadian history

Getting off the ship was well organized but then getting on a bus to the airport was chaotic
