This was our second Norwegian cruise. We really enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely take more Norwegian cruises in the future. We went on this cruise so we didn’t have to fly. We live in New York. And we’ve been to Newport and Portland in the past.
Embarkation

Giving four stars and not five because the Customer Service person at the pier didn’t have a clue about our “Priority Service” and what that entailed. She didn’t realize that we could get on the ship early. We saw the signs and followed them. So we were able to board early. It wasn’t too crazy.

Food and Dining

We ate in pretty much all of the Specialty Restaurants. They were all wonderful. We celebrated our Anniversary at Cagney’s which was amazing. The staff at the Specialty restaurants are always on the ball. Perfect.
We had our breakfasts in either Savor or Taste. Also very good. Just wish the portions were a tad bit larger and their coffee was consistent.

Only one negative. The toothpaste splat under the sink from the last person who was in our room otherwise everything was great. Love the double sink and extra room of the Family Club Suites.
Ship tip
Purchase the Priority Service. It’s worth it. Don’t rush off the ship unless your really need to on Disembarkson day. Have breakfast, breath, wait in line and carry your luggage off if you can.
This port was very industrial but yet beautiful. The Canadians are so very, very friendly. We took the Photography excursion. The places that they took us to were perfect. The excursion was very intimate with only 22 people. I forgot the guides name and the name of the driver. They were both so knowledgeable about where we were going to take photographs as well as how to use our iPhones for cameras. The different settings to use and little hidden things to get the best photos.
We took the Peggy’s Cove excursion. It was supposed to be in French and the switched it over to English. We were going even if it was in French. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Halifax and it’s history. Peggy’s Cove was beautiful.
After you return explore Halifax by the water. They have nice restaurants and pubs to go to. Return time back to the ship is 10:30pm.
Never been there, did our own thing. We went to O’Leary’s Pub. It’s the closest pub in the US to Ireland. The fish and chips was sooo good.
It’s cool how the ship is hidden behind an island. They used ferry’s to tender us back to the ship.
Physically we left our cabin at about 9am. Got up about 7:30, packed, went to breakfast at Savor, finished packing and walked off the ship. Had to still wait in lines; but that’s cruising.
