Overcall the cruise was OK. NCL and BJ’s couldn’t care less about clients flights and we not helpful with the flights they booked. We had a party of 6 and none of the spouses were sitting together on the plane. BJ’S blamed NCL and walked away. I wouldn’t use them again as they were useless. We had to call airline and rearrange seats on our own. In addition 2 of the couples got a nonstop return flight and we were put on a red eye with a layover in DC arriving after midnight in Boston.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Port authority has things all screwed up and the port was chaotic. We were dropped off by the shuttle behind the luggage. We went to the escalator and the line was a quarter mile long around the front.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Buffet was good. Main dining …..a good piece of beef was over cooked. Food was not as good as expected. Buffet had lots of options. Wife has food allergies so main dining was our preference so care could be taken to for meal prep. Servers were excellent. Drink package was great easy to use and bars usually were not overcrowded.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pool was overcrowded. You have to get up early AM and save chairs if you want a spot near the pool or in the sun. The main onboard activity was a ropes course. Not many people went on it. We did and it was pretty cool as you walked on a 2x6 over the ocean 100+ feet in the air.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Many of the game shows and small bar bands were lame. For the main shows in the theater Choir of men was great stood out. Comedians were funny, we had a magic show which was great( only there for out week.
Making reservation was difficult especially because we had 8 in our party.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone from room stewards to bar tenders and servers were excellent.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was clean although some of the common bathrooms (ladies room) was not so clean. In fairness there were a lot of people using them.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
They cleaned the rooms well. We came back from and excursion in late afternoon and got sand on the bathroom floor. We went to dinner and the crew had it cleaned up by the time we returned.
Ship tip
The ports leave lots to be desired. There is not much to do at port. You have to book an excursion or arrange to go somewhere on your own. They say the land at porta plata but you go to Amber cove …. There is no swimming unless you rent a villa on the water. Curiseline built a big pool. Amber beach is a mile away . You could walk but it’s sketchy and the bathroom is dirty and no toilet paper.
Tortola is beautiful Road Town not so much. We walked out of the cruise line shopping area and it was dirty and we felt unsafe as we wandered further from the dock. Another port were you have to book an excursion problem is you not in port very long so not worth the money. The baths on virgin Gorda is awesome (have been on Tortola before) but was expensive for a few hours.
Never use their airfare. They give you discounts for a reason. You get lousy flights that nobody else wants and you’re stuck with them. Much wiser to book directly through the airline and get flights that work for you.
