We were supposed to leave NYC at 4 pm but did not leave until 10:30 pm. It was awesome to cruise thru the area at night. Very beautiful. The staff was able to make up the time from the delayed departure and we had a great cruise from there on. The seas were flat almost the entire cruise. Barely a whitecap. The reason we were delayed is that the ship came from the Bahamas and had to go around hurricane Dorian. I heard stories about how rough it was on board during that cruise. We were appreciative that we did not have to go thru what the crew and previous passengers had to endure.

Ship was 8.5 hours late getting to terminal, no communication from Norwegian or . Chaos at terminal with everyone trying to get on the ship while others are trying to get off.

I noticed right away that they took away the ice buckets and towel animals that we enjoyed on previous cruises. They said you could request them but we only asked for ice bucket.
Ship Quality

Very clean ship. All stair railings were metal and were cleaned regularly. Previous ship had teak rails that were sticky all the time and seemed like they could harbor a lot of bacteria.
Cabin / Stateroom

Decent size room with balcony and sofa bed. First 2 days TV did not work. Channel selection limited. TV Remote control seemed possessed. Sometimes would work, other times not.... Nice sized bathroom with shower and good hot water.
Ship tip
If you like to drink Coca Cola products, you will be disappointed. There are none to be found on board and you cannot bring any onto the ship. Also we could not find a shop that sold any reading materials like magazines.
Did hop on Hop Off bus tour. Disaster. Took over 1 1/2 hours to get on bus as they were having breakdowns of the antique buses. Then once on the bus, we were afraid to get off as there were lines of people waiting at the stops that couldn't get back on as there was no room and it was very cold and windy. We could not go to any of the museums we paid admission to. Lots of damage here from Hurricane Dorian. We complained to Norwegian and they gave us 25% credit.... how generous of them. Should have gotten 100% back.
Very neat area. We booked an excursion thru Priceline and not Norwegian. It was a much better tour on a small bus with 3 guides and cost less. This will not be the last time we do this.
We used the self service option and walked off with our luggage about a half hour after hitting port. Norwegian recommends not booking flights back less than 6 hours after hitting port. We were at the airport about 90 minutes after docking.
Sorry you had a delay getting on the ship and glad it all worked out hope you had a great time despite some snafus!πππππππππππΌππ³π₯³
There has to be soda on board. They sell Pepsi not come products. They don't allow anyone to bring water or soda on board anymore. We never did that for any of our cruises. Norwegian, Princess, HAL, Royal and Carnival.
