It was uneventful, crowded, worse than my first cruise years ago with Carnival. I tried NCL and strayed from Celebrity. Will never cruise NCL again.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Definition: "Embarkation day means leaving all your cares behind as you enter into vacationland, where the drinks flow freely, the chores are left to others and all you need to do is relax and have fun. At least, that's what we all want it to be." It was anything but pleasurable. It was a complete nightmare.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Buffet was overcrowded, little to no seating if you went for breakfast. Long lines for buffet. One buffet for 4233 guests. A bust. We kept our dining experience out of the long buffet lines. Ate at complimentary restaurants for dinner and O'Sheehans for breakfast every single day. Great waitstaff but same menu 3 items and no changes from day to day.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
If you can get seats or get close enough to participate it may have been acceptable. Fitness center was the "star" that was given. It was the only place there weren't long lines and pushing.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Choir of Men...excellent. Unable to get into Magic Show and Comedy Show.
Children's Programs
Did not travel with children
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Excellent service from all of the above throughout the entire cruise . Only good thing about cruise was staff.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Common areas were clean, layout tight and needs more space to accommodate over 6000 +guests and staff. Tight squeeze.
Cabin / Stateroom

Old, worn, tired looking. Very disappointed at the size. Rather have slept on the balcony than in that in the dinghy tiny room with the stained and torn draperies. Other guests told us that they paid much less for a window room that had lots of space and a huge bathroom. They even had two tv's. Celebrity CL puts NCL to shame. Sofa bed cushions worn and stained. Gross. We threw our luggage on the "sofa" not to see the stains (aside from the fact we had NO WHERE to put the luggage).
Ship tip
Do your homework and take the cruise on a different cruise line.
Rip off shore excursion. We could have walked to the quaint town of Bar Harbor, which was friendly and lovely. The town was the reason for the 4 stars. Price of shore excursion...rip off!!!
Hop on hop Off bus...stay away.. 40 year old double decker buses with lots of offensive odors and very tiny seats. I am a small person and barely fit next to my husband on those seats. Anyone over 200 lbs. needs two seats. Screechy brakes, noisy clutch super bumpy ride. Not worth the money. Take a private cab. Two stars for the shopping area at the port. Nothing to see in Halifax. Imagined little fishing villages and quaint little town. Nothing but buildings and run down homes.
Sad if true, I have been on the Escape 7 times and never experienced what you did. The cabins are smaller than you think on any ship or cruise line. If you need larger purchase a suite on your next cruise. Your port reviews seem fair enough. I think you let things go down hill early on in the cruise and you never recovered from the offense. Any negatives you come across have to be put in writing to the Hotel Director forthwith so you can get on with your fun times and they can take steps to address your concerns and get you back on track to the fun. Better luck on your next cruise and happy cruising to all.
I highly doubt with a review like this you have ever been on the escape. It's the best ship I've ever been on that's why I booked it for a second trip anyone that actually believes this review I feel bad cause it's not true
If you want people to take your review seriously, you need to show that you have actually cruised. Your profile shows zero cruises. I have been on Escape and it is as if you were on a totally different ship.
