Norwegian Escape is a beautiful ship with a fantastic staff. All was good, except for a very crowded pool. Teppenyaki and Vibe bar were great experiences. The welcome back to the ship in cozumel was FANTASTIC!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation went quickly. Several staff members were available every few feet to greet and guide us along. I was on crutches and chose to not use a wheelchair. Several staff made sure I was safe on my crutches.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
All of the free dining rooms offer the same menu daily. Contrary to rumors, steak was offered daily. Staff and service were fantastic! We also ate at La Bistro, which was good, and Teppenyaki, which was fantastic! In addition to great food, the staff was vibrant and engaging. They had everyone singing while enjoying their meal.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Many activities were offered. Be forewarned: most fill up quickly! You need to reserve them using the app or one of the reservation systems onboard.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
There were wonderful entertainers throughout the ship at all times.
Service and Staff

The staff was fantastic!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and greatly encouraged clean hands. It was huge, so be prepared to walk a lot.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
We had a balcony cabin, and did not bid on a last-minute upgrade. We had two twin beds, which were very close to each other. The bathroom was fine and storage space was fine.
Ship tip
As soon as we got onboard, we went to Guest Services to get a pass to the Vibe (19th deck private bar area). Guest Services directed us to Headliners Comedy Club for tickets. It was the best money spent on the cruise! They only sell 70 tickets to this area for $99 each. With that, you have a guaranteed lounge chair, bar service (cocktails, afternoon cookies, ice water, fruit skewers and fun bartenders), a private hot tub, misters and cooling shower. The regular pool (only one on the boat) was crowded and looked like human soup.
We didn't go on any excursions here. The people in the port were unfriendly. We went back to the boat after buying some souvenirs. It was pretty, but not especially welcoming.
This is Norwegian's private island. It has a huge pool, plenty of restrooms, an area for water sports, some shopping. It was very pretty and the people were great.
Costa Maya was a fun port. Be prepared to be approached by many shop owners who want your business. Some cruisers found this exhausting; others didn't mind it as much. It was a great place to stop.
We went to Mr. Sanchos resort. Everything cost more than what we were told. The cab was $18 each way instead of $4. A 30-minute massage was $50 instead of $30 (but was still reasonable and beautiful). Umbrellas cost extra. Service was okay, but not great. If you do go there, be careful swimming! Some people had great difficulty in the water there, even though it appeared tranquil and calm.
