Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Enjoyed speciality restaurants. Buffet was a bit low budget. Some of the food in the speciality restaurants was from he buffet (charged for these meals). No midnight buffet.

Going exploring on our own was nice.

Harvest Caye, Belize

1 out of 5
Port was controlled by Norwegian. Would have liked to be in Belize City. 3 hours of travel for a 30 minute tube ride was a bit excessive and expensive.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
Port was controlled by Norwegian. Would have liked to be able to tour on our own. $400 for a family of four to see the ruins was extreme.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Enjoyed day at the beach.

Some people just don't read or listen. I have a coworker who last year went on her first cruise. Me and another coworker told her about prepaying her gratuities. Must have gone in one ear and out the other because when she got back she gripes about being surprised about it. However, that didn't tarnish her experience because in one week she's going on another cruise.

Never had problems..

This review appears to be baloney... NCL OBC and gratuities couldn't be cleared... I always do as Charlou does and take proof on my OBC entitlement but have never had a problem.

like the lady who had $800 stolen out of her safe...whatever!

canuckcruiser84    7 years ago

Probably BS. I just shake my head and keep counting the days until my next cruise with NCL

Does this look like another fake review to steer people away from NCL? I dont know what to believe on here half of the time. They never seem to respond when people chime in about their negative experience. If it is, at least they still gave NCL 4 stars.

some grats are included as a perk though.

I understand there's a lot of different things happening when you book a cruise with any cruise line. However you need to educate yourself and do the research. Last year we got an OBC but it didn't show up once we boarded the ship. it happens. We went to Customer Service and wham bam our OBC appeared on our account. As for the grarutites those are a given unless you didn't read.

Well said @GIL155

barracudaman67    7 years ago

I am extremely surprised you were not aware of gratuities. Did you book st the last minute and didn't bother doing any research?

GIL155    7 years ago

Surprised about the $150 OBC not being credited. Can you say - hello customer service desk?

Mandatory gratuities is pretty basic stuff on a cruise. Well explained on NCL website. As for the onboard credit. Whenever I receive one, I always bring a proof of it. So if it's missing in my account on board, it easily resolved. Just a tip.

did you book directly thru the cruise line? it's very self explanatory on their website. the type of room you book depends on the perks you receive.

terriesanchez    7 years ago

Was this your first cruise? The option to prepay gratuities come up on your cruise summary even before you cruise. How did you miss that? No judging...just asking.

Cruiserholics    7 years ago

Mandatory gratuities is pretty much the rule now. If you have a legitimate grip with service they may let you slip a bit but wouldn't count on it.

lilhkay04    7 years ago

Did you have gratuities beyond the per person, per day gratuities disclosed at booking? We prepay ours every time so we don't have any surprises! For our upcoming Escape cruise in September my prepaid gratuity charge was $217 for two of us 👍

I've never cruised with NCL but I would think the automatic gratuity would be listed on their website since it's standard practice for the industry. Or, did you book with a travel agency that dropped the ball? That may be why you didn't receive your obc as well. If the obc wasn't a booking perk then the issue is with them not Norwegian. Just some thoughts.
