Review summary

This was our first cruise in the Bahamas and was looking forward to Nassau as the highlight of our trip. It was the last stop on the cruise and instead couldn't stop because something was wrong with the ship. They gave us a $50 credit per cabin, which to us was minimal considering we lost 1/3 of our stops. And had the majority of the trip on the sea. We are very upset with Norwegian. While on the cruise, we put money down on future excursions, before the problem came up with the ship, now we are stuck with going with Norwegian for more cruises, since they would not refund the money down either. We did love the ship, food and staff. But think the Norwegian cruise line should of given up more compensation for the loss of the port.

Even though you didn't stop in Nassau, I still believe that NCL has to pay the Bahamas fees and port taxes, regardless. And those fees are part of your cruise total price. You didn't say anything about booked excursions, but those would have been refunded.

Ports are not a guarantee. That is on the fine print when you purchase a cruise. They can't help the weather and they want to keep you safe. You will experience missed ports on any cruise line. I would say that Nassau has always been my least favorite port. St Thomas and Tortola are both amazing ports. The Escape is one of my favorite ships. Great crew. So much to do. And wonderful places to relax.

Can I ask why with an itinerary of st Thomas and Tortola, Nassau was the highlight of your trip? Look at the bright side, if you loved the ship, the good and the service, you could take another cruise back to Nassau and enjoy the entire trip. It's 1 day in a weeklong experience, make the best of it!
