Poor administration on this ship by lisaporostosky

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It started off on a bad note when the line was 2 1/2 hours to board the ship! It felt very crowded and the entertainment was bad. Very noisy! The layout was not good. The pictures looked amazing, but in person, not impressive. Not much to do on the ship either unless you want to drink all day and see perverted shows. Very disappointing.

Best Entertainment At Sea by philipwilcox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our balcony cabin was beautiful, and the layout included separate shower, separate water closet, separate sink.  Lots of storage space, and cozy lighting.  The best thing about the cruise was the onboard entertainment.  Burn the Floor and Priscilla Queen of the Desert were excellent and the theatre has no obstructed seats, so every seat is great.  The food was wonderful and service was polite and efficient.  The ship itself was beautiful; but very awkwardly laid out.  Only two banks of elevators forward and aft.  Our cabin was in the middle of the ship, and so we walked a lot.  Not that that is a bad thing; we needed the exercise, but someone with limited mobility would not like this ship very much.  The bar on the pool deck was always understaffed for the number of people by the pool.  Debarkation for people with carry on bags was a nightmare.  Everyone crowed the gangways at once and it was clear the ship had no idea how many people would choose the option of carrying their own bags off the ship.  It was a very frightening experience, as everyone was directed through just one gangway.  A ship this large should have more than one gangway.  Overall, the cruise itself was wonderful, and on our last night, we attended the Cirque du Solei dinner show, and it was fantastic, funny, entertaining, and delicious filet mignon.  Very much worth the very reasonable ad on price.

could have been better by experienced

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

overall a nice cruise but, there is room for improvement with the service. Check in Barcelona was the pits and check out Cape Canaveral followed in the same foordsteps. What a mess!! waiting time unbearable.

Supervisor at the restaurants need to be trained to do a better job. Tables were loadet with dirty dishes and all supervisors pretend they don't see.

When I thought you could not make the food worse in quality and taste I was wrong. This ship has proofed it can be done. You should think twice to cruise with NCL.

The true way to relax on holiday by ehabjaber

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Transatlantic

I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise because it was a perfect balance between 2 port stops and 11 sea days.  I have been on many 7-day cruises before, and they can be quite hectic with a port stop almost every day.  So if you are like me and want to actually relax for your holiday, this is the right cruise for you.  It was also excellent value!

Other Cruise lines take note! by Cruiser45698211

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Transatlantic

I usually cruise with Princess, P&O, Celebrity, RCI, and only went with NCL as they have single studios. There is a  studio lounge which has a bar in the evening and serves as a great meeting place to make dinner plans with like-minded solo travellers. I was dubious, to be fair, thinking all these " billy no mates" would be oddballs! But as was recently widowed, I cant always rely on friends or relatives to be free to travel as frequently as I am able -so NCL.

I was pleasantly surprised as I met some lovely people, experienced great entertainment, and partied hard!

Good service by the staff. Eager to help. Deck 10 is a great location for accessibility to eating and entertainment. Entertainment was generally good to very good. Negative was sometimes hard to find coffee early in the morning.

Relaxing by RomanticCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Transatlantic

My wife an I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the time at sea.  We found that the rooms are poorly configured (there is no "bathroom") and they were too small for the price category. Some beverage products were not available at the ship's bars, only in the specialty dining facilities.  Cagney's was a great disappointment.  Free entertainment was sub-standard.  The practice of up-charging for certain menu items in general dining should be discontinued.  If you must pay for food in general dining, that information should be prominently advertised so that people are aware in advance.  Charging a fee for room service is unacceptable.

Quality has gone down by delynnglinnett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The food was great at the buffet. The entertainment was good, but you have to reserve a time to see them. So much for freestyle!  The public bathrooms were not well maintained. The staff were not as friendly as three years ago. Service in the main dining is slow.

Disappointed by dmdmdskd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Transatlantic

This was our second transatlantic cruise, the first one being on Royal Caribbean.  On our last cruise, there was a Bible study on sea days, which we greatly enjoyed and were able to meet new friends.  We were looking forward to having the same opportunity on this cruise, however, nothing was listed on the daily paper.  On day seven of the 13 day cruise, we were exiting the theater through the downstairs door and saw a sign for a Bible study on one of the doors.  Come to find out, there had been a Bible study since day one, but the cruiseline refused to put it in the daily paper.  They did allow them to put the Sunday church service in the paper and the attendance at the Bible study went from six or seven to thirty to forty.  Because of their lack of interest in their Christian passengers, we have no plans to take another Norwegian cruise.

Norwegian Epic was enjoyed by the whole family. The kids loved the water park and the entertainment, mum and dad like The Haven. We had a great time and would sail on the cruise line again.

Great Cruise! by sharoncrann

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was very large but didn't feel overcrowded. Great choices for Entertainment and Food. I one thing I would say if you upgrade to a Specialty Dining Package it doesn't include coffee or soft drinks, if you don't have the drink package. Wrong when you can get it in the main dining rooms - buffet. Didn't like the fact that they block your wi fi so that you are forced to buy their package to use your phone on ship.

You have to get a tender from the ship to see Cannes but what a beautiful place it is. Lovely promenade, great shops & quaint back streets. Don't miss it.

NCL review by Cruiser18005799

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Helen Conway has booked two cruises this year for me and has excellent communication

skills , very patient in explaining all details and a pleasure to deal with.

NCL Epic is an enormous ship with a lot of passengers but well organised The embarkment is easy

the food was very good considering the amount of people on the ship and

the shows are great but you have to book seats at the beginning of cruise.

Walked off the ship with luggage and it took 10 minutes

25th Wedding Anniversary! by em3266

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

There was no favorite part. We loved the food in all the specialty restaurants.

Even on a ship with 4500 passengers, we never felt crowded.

Loved all the bar choices especially the Irish bar.  All the shows were excellent!

Only thing that was annoying was the lighting in the cabin. We had a balcony stateroom, and it was very hard to put makeup on with the dim lights.

The food and entertainment were great. There should be a time when a person can cruse without a lot of children on board, don't get me wrong I love children.

Epic med by chadneal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was my second time on the Epic. Since the first trip the quality of the food has declined, and the loss of the blue man group was not offset by the replacement show. It was still a great cruise but not quite the impressive event it was several years ago.

Things that got better:

Wine selection was surprising. Lots of wins that were not on the menu that were outstanding. Ridge, Caymus, Stags Leap, etc.

The sushi bar, noodle bar improved since my last trip.

Things that got worse:

Cagney's was just not very good. Far from a 4 star steak house and for sure not worth the $200 we spent with all new pricing.

No lobster on the ship to be found. We were in a haven suite and couldn't get a single tail, even with being willing to pay extra.

Kids now pay full fare at restaurants

The garden cafe buffet food was very low quality

Many drinks that were included in the UBP are no longer included. This includes things like espressos, and many top shelf booze.  surprise was the $7 uncharge for the Don Julio margs.

Nickle and Dime by framillebk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The port of calls where absolutely amazing.   I loved every port we went to.  The Ship itself was another story.  Don't get me wrong the workers were great and always aimed to please.  I have no complaint with them.  It was disappointing that I paid so much for the ultimate dining package and the same food served in the restaurants were the same food we could have ate in the buffet for free.  The service fees we ridiculous and they had the nerve to add extra gratuities in some restaurants.  We paid extra for the internet and you can only use one device at a time.  Maybe it was the time of year we went but there was not much fun activities for people under 45.  I have been on other cruise which had more of a party vibe, but not this one.

Over all I would probably try another cruise line before booking with Norwegian.
