I enjoyed the cruise, but will not sail on the Epic again. The ship was great, but I would have liked a promenade deck. My only other complaint is that NCL wasn't very clear on how and where to catch the shuttle from the airport to the port.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
I was surprised how quickly it went. It was less than an hour from beginning to when we boarded the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The buffet was wonderful. I was surprised at the quality and quantity of food. The Taste and Manhattan dining rooms were okay, but I thought the meals were not inspiring. The service was good, although we did have to tell our servers that we had show reservations so that our service was a timely and quick.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
I wasn't impressed. Daily activities took place in the Atrium, and there wasn't a lot a seats available. The decks were crowded and honestly, I saw more empty chairs being saved for who knows what.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were fabulous. We saw Burn the Floor, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (twice), and Howl at the Moon.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward, Rene, was fabulous. We had an inside cabin and it was always clean and made up on a timely basis. I felt the staff on the ship was great, very friendly and helpful.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
I did not like the design of the ship. There isn't a promenade deck so I either had to find a place in the shade on top, or stay inside the ship. There's a jogging track, but again, it's on the same deck as the lifeboats. The public areas were clean but inside the ship seating was limited.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was tight but there was enough storage. The cabin was always clean and beds were freshly made daily and turned down at night. I actually love the design of having the water closet separate from the shower and sink. We didn't have any issues.
Ship tip
Make your show reservations before your dinner. We had ours bumped to a later time because of our dinner reservation but could still went and stood in the standby line.
We had so much fun and did the Swimming with Pigs excursion. That was a blast and when we came back had lunch. NCL did a great job of having plenty of food and drink available. My only complaint is I would have preferred if there was a separate place on the beach for smokers.
