I would highly suggest the Epic. It's a large ship with many activities.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived early about 11:00 am to get on the ship and easily got through the security and registration lines. We weren't able to board the ship until around Noon. We've gone on many cruises and this was an average process to get aboard the ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Overall the food and beverage on the ship was wonderful. If I had a complaint it would be that the freestyle dining and the timing to get to the shows early enough to get a front row seat was a challenge. We have a 7 year old daughter who loves the shows and likes to sit in the front. Get to dinner early and let them know you're trying to make the show and they will speed up the dinner service. We also have a wonderful experience with the staff specifically Petra who's the Head Mycologist. She took extra time with us and our daughter and after she learned that it was our daughters Birthday Cruise made it a very special experience. She sent us a cake and our cabin even got decorated for the event. We had dinner most nights at the dining room.
Waves Bar
5 out of 5
The Pool bars did a great job of keeping everyone watered and the drinks were wonderful! They had a line specifically for frozen drinks!
Taste
5 out of 5
The Taste Dining Room was a great spot to eat when not in the main dining room. The food was excellent!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The Waterslides was great, out 7 year old loved the Epic Plunge the best. Even Mom went down it and enjoyed it. They don't operate it when the winds are high as you need to carry a tube up the stair to the slide an I'm sure when it's windy the little kids can't hang on t the tubes.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Burn the Floor show was incredible and the dancing was some of the best I've ever seen. We also did the Circ show and that was well worth the extra money. The food was wonderful and the theater was very intimate and you felt very close to the actors in the show. We enjoyed all the entertainment on the ship. This picture is with one of the clowns at the show.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Our daughter didn't spend much time at Splash Academy but did go the evening of the Pirate Night and loved every minute of it. She had been to Pirate night on the Norwegian Jade and loved it there as well. Beware, your kids will come back with painted faces saying Arrrrrrrrrr a lot! :-)
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The Staff on the Epic did a great job. Our Room Steward Victor was attentive to our needs and helped decorate our room for the Birthday girl. I also love ice and he set us up with an extra ice bucket and kept it filled for us twice a day.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was large and had lots of options for dining, entertainment and activities. The biggest challenge was using the elevators. They should of designed in another bank of elevators.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Overall the cabin was as expected. The good thing about the cabin was a larger than normal balcony. The bad thing was it took a day or two to get used to the design of the room with the separate shower, toilet and sink. Once you get used to it, it was OK.
Ship tip
Sign up for the shows and specialty dining early. They do fill up. Overall the ship flowed very well even with all the people on board.
