Review summary

I have been on other cruises and from our experience with this ship and cruise line, we will not be coming back to Norwegian, nor will our friends. I can say that others on the ship said the same things. Excellent customer service in all areas of the ship and cruise line are a simple expectation that should be met and exceeded.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The Buffett was underwhelming and constantly delivered the same food repeatedly. Specialty restaurants, especially Cagney’s Was ridiculously slow service and lacking in customer service satisfaction. Every cruise patron we talked too felt the same way about Cagney’s and several other specialty restaurants. The only restaurant I felt like I had expected excellent customer service was in La Cucina.

Onboard Activities

Most patrons including ourselves waited an average of 2-3 hours to eat dinner. The couple next to our table complained directly to the manager and were still very unsatisfied with action taken.

Entertainment

Spas were all cold to medium warm. They are hot tubs for a reason and I wouldn’t consider 75 degrees in the range a hot tub should be.

Children's Programs

We purchased tickets before the cruise and received confirmation of our date and time. Our friends who also cruised with us purchased tickets for the same night. When we arrived, they told us our tickets were not in there system and they would have to charge us full price to get in. Then, they charged us and said they were over booked. The manager comped us to come back a different night, and refunded our money for the 2nd charge, but we didn’t get a refund for the original tickets. I tired talking to guest services but they said I would have to wait for manager to handle in show.

Service and Staff

Gilbert was our room steward and was helpful and attentive. Other staff in restaurants, bars and other areas of the ship seemed very disconnected from providing customers with the level of service expected on cruise ships. Poor slow service is not what I expected. Another experience that caused great issue for us was the infirmary. My boyfriend became ill on the ship almost immediately. He passed out in the buffet area and was transported to the infirmary. He told them to find and notify me. They told him they did, but they did not, In addition, the infirmary told him the charges for his visit with medication would be around $200-300 USD. They charged $1200 USD just to evaluate him and give him two basic medications for nausea and diarrhea. He was required to pay the $1200 before we left the ship. That is highway robbery and unacceptable. To be told one thing and then charged another so absorbinant is horrifying. We will be filing a formal complaint for this issue.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was undergoing many repairs during the sail dates. They even asked if they could enter our room during the voyage and move our stuff out to replace carpet when they could wait for two days and replace after we disembarked ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
I liked the balcony room and location but room was small, not enough storage for suitcases etc. also wasn’t a fan of the bathroom layout in the cabin right at front door. Was also not happy we weren’t allowed to open the door between the two staterooms with our friends who were in the cabin next door, we were told that was not allowed unless it was children in the room next door.

Ship tip

Don’t . If you do, bring no expectations and lots of money.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

2 out of 5
These were not the ports we were originally supposed to go to, and not what we signed up for. Due to hurricane damage in original ports, cruise line redirected our ports without offering alternatives. We should’ve been given an option to reschedule at a different date, or given a discount for to continue with the dates. None were given as consideration.

Nassau, Bahamas

2 out of 5
Not impressed. No excursions provided in this port worth experiencing.

Falmouth, Jamaica

3 out of 5
Excursions were better in this port and shopping opportunities.

George Town, Grand Cayman

2 out of 5
Unimpressed with this port and excursion options.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

Pretty port and was good with options given here.
