Overall GREAT cruise for the family

Sail Date: March 08, 2015

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Suite

This was our (Myself, Husband, son-7, son-3, son-10mo and Mother-in-Law) second run on the NCL Epic.  Our fist we went to the Eastern Carrib (St. Marteen, St. Thomas, Nassau).  We preferred the itinerary way more on this one.  However, the Epic was brand new the last time we went, and in only a 1.5 years later, it's starting to show its age a little (minor - magnet on sitting area in room broken; kids pool area leaking water; small rust spots showing).  Also, the Legends in Concert was no where near the same level it was the first time.  The entertainers themselves we fine, but the crowd was NOT engaged at all.  Stark contrast to the first time I saw the show.  Some of the kids entertainment conflicted with the port times.  The food was great in both the free places as well as the specialty dining.  Overall the room and the service of the people were great, the ports were great and we still had a FAB time.  We would recommend this cruise - just try to avoid Spring Break crowd if you are cruising with the family.

Excellent service from Casino to Dining to Room Attendants.
Good to keep you busy not phenominal.
Children's Programs
Overall great - kids had a blast.
Onboard Activities
Lots of nickle and dime games (Deal or No Deal, Bingo, etc.)
Destinations and Excursions
GREAT itinerary. Friendly islands, TONS to do! 7 mile beach water=AMAZING!!
Cabin / Stateroom
GREAT if you have kids or like being close to everything. Right by stairs/elevators, splash academy is one floor up, buffet/outdoor two floors up; elevators let out right by all theaters/entertainment. Room was VERY quiet, balcony has great view, FYI NO bathtub only shower.
Miami, Florida
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Mystic Mountain - Zip Line and Bob Sled with Sky Explorer=AWESOME! AMAZING views!!
George Town, Grand Cayman
7-mile beach. Water is stunning - can see all the way down. calm warm waters.
Cozumel, Mexico
Rio Secreto - amazing caves and exploration. Took whole day but more than worth it.

Save on your bar tab and get BAR SET-UP in your room. It's bottles of alcohol (there's a list) that you can pre-order prior to cruising. We brought our own red bull, pop and water and saved a BUNDLE. For comparison we spent about $600 in drinks (pop, water and alcohol) vs $160 this time!!
