Review summary

The ship was well-appointed. I missed the "happy hours", meeting other prior cruisers, and the Captain's welcome aboard party .............. as was offered on prior NCL cruises with smaller ships.

The general dining rooms were very well serviced by pleasant staff. Except for the soup (which was rather bland), the food was excellent.

I missed seeing the "stage shows" which were common on the smaller ships.

The ship was new, and for the size, it was well designed, except that the room lay-out really did not allow for double beds to be split. (Only 8" - 12") Everything was kept clean.

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

This was a nice port, but the "tour" of the Dutch & French sides were not planned as well as it should have been. Crowding 12 people in to what should have been an 8-passenger van ended up being just a "ride" for those folks sitting in the back. The driver was very good & accommodating, but the local tour owner very much lacked "people skills".

The Snorkel & Beach tour was not set in the most appealing area. I felt that my time & money would have been better spent at a white-sand beach elsewhere. The Skyride was nice, but not really worth the time that was missed scouring the shops at the Havensight Mall.

The Stingray Adventure was terrific. The area & surrounding beach were wll kept, and very inviting. I would have liked another day in this Port.

Pros: The ship was new.

Cons: Perhaps too large a ship, thereby missing out on personal meetings with the Captain & other prior cruisers.

Recommends Norwegian Epic? Yes!
