Norwegian takes the lion’s share of guest’s tips given to casino dealers. This is abhorrent.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Quick and painless. Check in agents very friendly! New terminal is beautiful and we got on quickly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Underwhelming based on prior experiences on NCL. Very little variety and temperature/freshness was all over the place. The specialty dining was better but still below what we’ve come to expect from Norwegian.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Did not see the cruise director once and her staff very little. There didn’t seem to be much of a push for the usual events or a cruise director team presence at the few worth attending. The slide that drops you straight down was always empty because they do not allow ANY metal (including grommets on the string of your suit). No one could ride it due to these (over-the-top) requirements.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
While there wasn’t much, I still give this 4-stars due to the amazing performance by the Beatles cover band. Definitely check them out.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
This was the biggest disappointment. It seemed like NCL is cutting back on their service staff. Hardly any of the crew smiled, all seemed overworked and I was told that due to the cuts, they were working the jobs of 2-3 employees. This manifested itself in slower service times (something Norwegian has struggled with under the best of conditions), grumpy attitudes and no one going above and beyond with the little things that usually make a cruise so special. Small example that doesn’t impact things much but does make my point: we didn’t receive a single towel animal. Does it matter? Not really. But that’s the little touch that the family loves to see that makes it special.

Ship tip
Until they staff up, I’d consider a different line with recent reviews that mention quality service.
We were on that March 12 sailing and couldn’t disagree more about the staff. We encountered many that were not only friendly but extremely willing to help.
nclcruzr I agree, I read some of these reviews and you can see that some people expect way too much from the workers on a cruise than they would on any other vacation. I feel that they do way more than they have too to make our vacation great. Considering the hours they work and the people they have to deal with , they do an awesome job!
