Review summary

Very disappointed as we spent extra money to get a suite which was not much bigger and tips were $84 more for the week than a similar cabin. The specialty dining now has surcharges on top of surcharges for some selections. We lost 3 of 4 ports but only refunded $42 for port taxes. Lost our excursions and the credits that go with each of the ports we missed. Masks were not enforced at all and I am now very sick with Covid. I started getting mild symptoms on day 6 and the day after return, very ill on oxygen. Not happy at all with our cruise nor the lack of memories we wanted to share with our adult children on a long planned family trip.

Embarkation

It was okay except for no one knowing where to get wheelchair rental. Testing took time and such but that was a known issue so no complaints on that.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Good food though they are now adding costs on specialty dining, in addition to the added cost of specialty dining! $5 added if you choose crab cake appetizer, $19 more if you order surf and turf. $1 more for a sauce! Kind of hokey and not previously like that.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Pool and jacuzzi very crowded with no mask enforcement. Barely anyone wore masks on crowded decks. We all ended up sick at end of cruise. Much of entertainment was canceled and 3 ports were skipped with Nassau being substituted where we sat idle for two days unable to use Casino or shopping, thus frankly it was boring.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We saw Choir of Man early on thankfully because they canceled remaining and also other entertainment on board leaving us with few options for entertainment shows. We went to one comedian show, with one being rude and raunchy, forgetting some of his material. Alex Ortiz was his name. Rodney was very good. The staff was the only bright spot as they are always excellent and they were always masked. But again no enforcement of masks. I never once saw anyone told to mask anywhere. I have asthma so am very careful but ended up very sick now and trying to recover.

Children's Programs

Had no kids with us

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
All staff were good except for excursion desk manager who offered nothing back for the one excursion we were able to get after they canceled the most sought after activity in the excursion!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is very nice but too few jacuzzis onboard always jam packed. There was no enforcement of masking at all in public areas hence dinging for that.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Room nice but very narrow for a so called suite we paid extra for. No room for electric scooter

Ship tip

Be upfront about illness on ship. Canceled ports were announced late so unable to do excursions, hence losing excursion credits and ports that we booked the cruise for. I believe they knew ahead because there were rumors before we left DR that we would not be going to St Thomas or Tortola. They stayed in Nassau two days but nothing was open on ship to do. Excursion did not offer same features as before, cancelling snorkeling on dolphin encounter, but refused refund as they said it was a bonus addition. So $169 is what it cost to pet a dolphin. Left on beach for 4 hours, but nothing else. Not happy with that experience at all

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

1 out of 5
We only went to one port on itinerary. Nassau was substituted for all three of others. Miami is Miami. Hard to get help and English speakers non existent it seems. Airport has little or no seating while waiting transfers.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
We enjoyed but downtown area seemed patrolled and maybe dangerous with very little but standard shops with men begging to get you in shops.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Did not visit port

Ship unable to dock due to Covid

Tortola, British Virgin Islands Did not visit port

Ship unable to dock due to Covid

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Canceled due to Covid

Disembarkation

Went fairly well but with very little assistance available and but no signage on where to leave wheelchair scooter rental and no one knew. A guy told us to just leave on sidewalk with another one!
