Review summary

Overall would not recommend this cruise. I'd classify it as sleepy and somewhat boring onboard. Shopping on board was very limited, and besides being extremely overpriced the merchandise was either junk or outrageously expensive. T-shirts in the gift shop were from Caribbean destinations and not from ports of call for this cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embark at I on was very easy. After being picked up at Heathrow, the shuttle ride was comfortable. Once at the dock we basically were able to walk right onto the ship after dropping off our luggage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Although the food was good, there was a lot of repeat dishes in the main dining. The Speciality Brazilian Steakhouse was good, but not exceptional. Only one area was open late, and with a very limited menu.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Cold and very windy weather kept the pool and hot tubs closed much of the trip. There was not much else other than a fitness center.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Performers were good, but shows lasted only 30-40 minutes, and all entertainment ended at 11:00 pm.

Children's Programs

Did not have children with us.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Ten days onboard and never once saw our room steward. Every other cruise we've taken the steward introduced himself first day. Waiters were friendly, but often messed up our meal orders by either forgetting drinks ordered or special requests.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was clean and well ordered, but was difficult navigating.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was clean and comfortable. King bed took up most of room and made it difficult to access one side of the bed because of desk placement.

Ship tip

Don't expect a lively cruise.

Ports of call

NEWHAVEN HARBOUR (EDINBURGH), SCOTLAND

City was very nice, but information on getting into city center was completely lacking. We and others wasted over an hour waiting for taxi service that never arrived. Finally found someone who advised us to take city bus.

Invergordon (Inverness & Loch Ness), Scotland

Again lost over two hours of shore time due to length of time tendering and waiting on train to get to city center.
