Review summary

We live in Tampa so it is so easy to leave from here, but you get older ships like the Dawn. The food was excellent and the ports were great. Most of the excursions are over priced and they were not what the excursion description stated so that was disappointing. The staff was great. This was our first Norwegian cruise and we were surprised there were no washers and dryers on board (we've cruised 3 other lines that have them).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was VERY good especially the specialty restaurants! We were disappointed that the ship ran out of Bud Lite 1/2 way through the cruise and did not replenish. They also had no CA chardonnays in the drink package (only one from Israel and Argentina which were very bad).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The gym is very nice and the classes were personalized and small. This is not the ship for tweens or teens (not enough activity for that age), but we enjoyed it.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
All of the shows were good. We wished they had more comedians.

Children's Programs

We did not sail with children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service was good

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is ready for updating especially the guest rooms (stained carpet, rusty balconies). We were surprised that there are no washer and dryers (our first line that doesn't have them which is a bummer)

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We liked the amount of storage and the bed was comfortable. When we arrived, one of the shelves had open food packages from the previous guest so that was gross. Carpet was stained - time for refurbishing

Ship tip

There are no washer and dryers on board. You have to pay for laundry. It's pretty hard to go 11 nights without washing some clothes.

Disembarkation

The worst disembarkation I've had in our (10) cruises. There was no order nor instruction. We ended up being in a HUGE line that had us circle the entire ship.
