Review summary

Overall, our family of 5 (all adults) had a very good time. There was plenty to do on board and the entertainment was excellent. We dined in the following restaurants: Venetian, Aqua, O'Sheenhan's. The food was good but not excellent. The service staff was wonderful and everyone was very pleasant. The dress was more casual than I expected. Since we were going north in June, the weather was cool at most of the ports, but we expected that.

Embarkation

It took too long for wheelchair service. We waited for over an hour.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room food was not as good as we have had on other cruise lines. It was okay, but not excellent. We did not dine in the specialty restaurant and only visited the buffet one time. The buffet was okay. The drinks provided were excellent.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
It was too cold to use the pool area. We did not use the fitness center or visit the casino. The pool was small. The hot tubs looked fine but again too cold to use them.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was excellent. We especially enjoyed Jose and Patti. The jazz band was pleasant and the big show at the end was very good. I did not care for the comedian.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service staff was excellent. They were all very attentive and pleasant. Our room steward, Racquelle, was superb!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
There were plenty of stations with hand sanitizers and the staff was cleaning railings on a consistent basis. Common restrooms were clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The beds were comfortable and the size was appropriate. The shower was larger than expected. The bars in the shower and toilet area were very helpful. There was plenty of space to store clothing and the empty suitcases fit under the bed. It was very clean and there were enough towels. It was nice that the balcony shield was cleaned daily. We loved our room steward. She did a great job and was so nice!

Ship tip

We took too many clothes. People dressed more casually than I thought they would. I would cut down on the dressier clothes.

Ports of call

New York, New York

5 out of 5
No excursion here but it was a great port with a wonderful view of the city.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
Really not much to see in Halifax. We did the Views of Halifax Tour. There was too much getting on and off the bus. Tough for those with disabilities.

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
We did the Trolley 'Round Sant John tour and that was very nice. We got to see the area where the river reverses even though it did not reverse while we were there. The ship anchors off port and you have to take a tender.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
Excellent port. You dock in an area that is walkable to many restaurants and stores. We did the Best of Both Worlds Tour which was well done. We got to see Acadia National Park as well as sites in Bar Harbor. Our tour guide was excellent. The food is very expensive! We paid $25 for a lobster roll!

Portland, Maine

It rained the whole time we were there. We took the tour to Kennebunkport and President Bush was at the family's summer home. We could see the secret service cars. We were left in the town for about an hour. Since two tour buses pulled in at the same time, it was difficult to get lunch without having to wait for a table. With the rain, this made it difficult as some were outdoor venues.

Newport, Rhode Island

You have to tender into this port also. At the end of the day, you had to wait for an hour to get a boat back to the ship. I am glad we got on right after our tour at 2 pm. We took the Newport Scenic Drive. You could see the mansions from the street. We had been there before and had toured a mansion then, so we did not do it again. The tour also took you to Fort Adams.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We kept our luggage and got off when we wanted to at around 9:45. We got off very easily.
