Review summary

Will more than likely not cruise Norwegian again. The Dawn is an older ship that should be replaced. Thermal suite rip off is the main reason!

Old ship! even though it was recently refurbished, still not great! They were chipping rust and painting balconies while we were in port...not in our room after I complained!

DO NOT PAY FOR THE THERMAL SUITE UNLESS YOU WANT A SEPERATE SAUNA FOR YOU AND YOUR WIFE! I WAS TOLD THAT WE COULD USE ALL SERVICES TOGETHER...NOT TRUE! WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET! MAYBE THE NEWER SHIPS ARE BETTER...

All ships have that type of maintenance done at port. It's easier to do when most if the people are off. They all need to have it done due to the salt water. I see no problem with it.

Sometimes even the best is not good enough. Might I recommend Regent or Crystal for three to five times the cost? It's sure to satisfy.

We cruised on the Spirit a couple of years ago. It was recently refurbished and, I believe, is the oldest ship in the fleet. There were places where you could easily see the ship showing its age. To a person the staff was amazing, the food was great in every venue, the entertainment was super e everywhere, it had an elegance the newer ships don't have. To date, it is our favorite of all the cruises we have taken. The age of the ship, in our experience, is not a factor in the quality of the cruise. One other thing: Rust removal and painting are a constant thing for any ocean-going vessel. Salt water and salt spray are really hard on pretty much everything so keeping a vessel 'ship-shape' and looking nice is an everyday task. It can't be deferred until scheduled refurbs. I'm guessing chip-and-paint has been going on somewhere on nearly every cruise you've been on (it has for us), even if its happening early mornings while most folks are asleep or just waking.
