We enjoyed the cruise, but some rough seas (unusual for this time of year) dampened the experience a bit.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
The mob of passengers checking in at the port would have been very overwhelming but for the fact we were traveling with two siblings/spouses who are Latitude Platinum travelers. Having them along helped smooth the process. Even so, the computers went down as we checked in so that may have delayed the embarkation process.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food in the main dining rooms was good but service was not very fast. The food in Cagney's was excellent, as was the service. The buffets for breakfast and lunch was good with lots of variety.
Moderno Churrascaria
2 out of 5
The service was slow and we were seated next to the bar, which was incredibly loud. The bartender did nothing to quiet the crowd so we could not carry on a conversation at our table. There were too many meat options and not enough vegetables with the meal.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The fitness center was large and well-equipped. Unfortunately some rough seas made it difficult to use them on some days.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The evening shows were enjoyable, but we liked the band (Muz'k Nation) the best. They played an amazing variety of music and were tremendous.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
I would rate our steward "excellent" but the rest of the staff were more in the "good" range.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was clean, but is starting to show some wear and tear. Also, the design of the ship made it difficult to get an unobstructed view of the ocean and ports from the top floors of the ship. It was difficult to take a picture without part of the ship in it unless you could take it from your own room balcony.
We had to dock at the naval base dock and take the train in to Key West. I much prefer being able to walk on and off the ship, rather than having to take transportation. Key West was pretty, but cold and congested.
Beautiful weather and good shopping. Did not do an excursion but my spouse went on a snorkel excursion that was not very good. Waters were murky and saw very few fish.
Loved Bonaire. Really beautiful place that we may want to visit again. We did an excursion to a beach resort that was relaxing, but the snorkeling there was not the best.
I rated this "good" because of our good excursion experience (trip to Mystic Mountain to ride the bobsled and a climb up Dunn's River Falls). Whle Ocho Rios was beautiful, I did not feel as safe at this port as I did the others, and the merchants were incredibly pushy.
I'm not sure who was at fault (the port authorities or ship personnel) but only those who wanted to participate in the walk-off process were allowed to leave the ship until 9:30. They held all the other passengers on the ship until ALL the luggage had been moved off the ship and into the terminal. Then they announced those with "yellow" tags could disembark. They did not give the passengers cards to show who had yellow tags, so everyone left and it created a huge traffic jam in the terminal.
