They do a lot with a little

Sail Date: December 27, 2015

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Balcony

small ship without all the bells and whistles.  but they are good at making the most of it.  greetings after port days are nice  - cool wet towels and refreshing drinks.  afternoon pool deck sail away parties/BBQ were great.  Main dining room service was spotty, also - be prepared to wait for dinner every night for about 30 minutes.  desserts were awful, but main dish and appetizer were good with nice variety.  not a luxury trip, but excellent value for the money. since gratuity for beverages/dinner are included automatically, the service was less than expected.  many rude bar staff and dining room servers.  took on average 15 minutes to get a second glass of wine at dinner.  the best aspects of this cruise were:  itinerary, excursions, lots of teens, excellent embark/disembark organization.

Cabin / Stateroom
tighter layout than we're use to, and impractical storage space. only one electric outlet in the room. there's a second UK style outlet, so if you bring a converter you could expand access. the ceiling of our balcony had peeling paint, so there were always paint chips all over the place. bed was comfortable. a large person would have difficulty in the bathroom and also at the vanity.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
take advantage of free style disembarkation. no need to leave your bags out night before. absolutely the quickest disembarkation we have ever experienced
Ship Quality
Destinations and Excursions
this is the highlight of this cruise
Onboard Activities
Children's Programs
lots of variety of music: excellent piano "sing a long" with the right crowd, great volunteer guitar player. DJ was terrible - adults and teen s agreed. comedy was great.
Service and Staff
cabin steward and guest services were great. dining servers were 50/50; same with bar staff. pool deck staff consistently rude
Food and Dining
desserts were absolutely awful. 30 minute wait for dinner each night. some really rude wait staff
New Orleans, Louisiana
if you have young children, don't waste your time here. dirty, dangerous and not a lot of fun.
Cozumel, Mexico
we've been here so many times, we've run out of things to do. a day at paradise beach was excellent and relaxing; teenagers loved it too
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
great snorkeling, friendly tourism-hungry people. coral was excellent, lots of sea fans, and really nice water that made our hair soft and beautiful!
Belize City, Belize
beautiful rain forest and unique underground cave lagoons. be sure to bring bug spray
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
seem to be a situation of "build it and they will come". not much natural attraction nearby, but they've done a nice job building new infrastructure, buses/tours to ruins, and the waterpark. my guess is that this stop will continue to improve over time. bring bug spray for the ruins. if you go to the waterpark, be assertive - ask for extra chairs, etc. zip-line and waterslides are a lot of fun. teenagers enjoyed this very much.

they do a lot with little. not much for teens to do...just meet up and hang out. 18-20 year olds can drink wine/beer with parental consent. that's what most of them did each night. we've taken norwegian twice and both times there were a ton of teenagers; great for us....but maybe not for you.
