Review summary

This was to be the first cruise for my 83 year old mother and my husband's 69 year old sister.  Unfortunately, my mother was not allowed to board because some of her paperwork was not in order and I stayed behind with her.  This was certainly disappointing but the cruise staff really did try everything they could to avoid the circumstance.  My husband and his sister did go on the cruise and they had a wonderful time.  The ship was lovely, the activities entertaining, the shows fabulous, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and so hard working.  We are going to try to get my mother's papers in order and maybe get her on her first cruise next year.

Americans need certified birth certificate and photo ID. I took my daughter at 18 months to the BMV and got her an ID. Passports suggested but not necessary we have cruised 6 times no passport

For your information, I have. They are saying that a certified original birth certificate is fine for closed loop cruises. If you check the passport web site, it does not mention. Hence my question. There is no need to be so arrogant. If in fact this woman had the birth certificate, I was going to try and get a passport for this infant.

this app cracks me up, people always asking other people on here what travel documents are required... check with the cruise line for correct answers..not everyone on here is American, some people might require Visas, call your cruise line first

What type of issue did she have? We are traveling with an infant. I am so concerned we will run into an issue as she does not have a passport.
