On this cruise, my husband purchased unlimited internet package with streaming services. The internet service was poor and the devices using internet needed to be by the door. While at sea on the evenings of 8/29, 8/30, and 8/31, the ship's router was down as well and we had no internet service at all. I went to guest information on deck on 8/30 to complain about the lack of internet despite paying for the internet package, but was told the IT manager was not working at the time and to return when the manager was working. On 8/31, I went to the IT department this time to complain of the lack of internet. The staff member assisting informed me that they were aware that there was no internet and all passengers who purchased internet package would be reimbursed full price of the internet package purchased. When reviewing my final bill, I was only reimbursed 25.70 instead of the full 179.93 as stated by the staff member in IT.

The specialty dining restaurants were excellent as well as the servers if you could get a reservation. The Norwegian app was malfunctioning, which would not allow me to make any reservations. By the time I arrived on the cruise ship to make reservations for specialty dining, no reservations were available. I was limited to the days and time frame offered and in order not to waste my specialty dining package, I had to book according to what was available. The buffet did not have much variety from a day to day basis. The staff in the buffet did not look friendly either. They did not seem approachable. One evening, I saw maintenance members fixing the coffee machine wearing their shoes standing on the counter rather than putting shoe covers over their shoes prior to standing on the counter. It was extremely unhygienic in my opinion.

I have cruised on other cruises before with other cruise lines as well as Norwegian. On the Breakaway specifically, the staff did not seem friendly, especially in the buffet. The room steward for our floor told us that they have to clean the room at least once during the cruise. I had reasons why I had to keep my room with the "Do Not Disturb" light on. I have never had an issue with this before on other cruises so it was quite a shock for me.

The staff does try to keep common areas clean and well-maintained except when fixing coffee machine. As stated in an earlier question, the maintenance crew did not put shoe covers on their shoes prior to stepping on the counter where passengers place their food and coffee.

When I arrived to my room, I found fake eyelash stuck on the shelf in the bathroom.
No excursion but the disembarking time took a very long time. Once the ship arrived to port, it took over an hour before passengers were allowed to disembark.
Ncl only opens 25% of their specialty dining reservations prior to sailing starting 120 days prior. So 75% of the reservations remain on embarkation day. My advice is to book your reservations as soon as you board if you haven’t already done so. You should be able to get whatever time you want at that time.
