Our ship was fully booked. It was crowded. I feel I would of fell in love with this ship/itinerary if there wasn't so many people. This is a big ship but the design and the amount of people made walking around cumbersome.
WAY TO MANY KIDS. Granted this was Spring Break time for high schoolers. But I was blown away how many parents just let their kids run around without any supervision. Seriously, as I walked down the main areas I felt like I was dodging deer that were running across the highway....except it was kids just running around aimlessly.
I don't recommend cruising during Spring Break time.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
They assign you a time to report to the pier for check in but it didn't seem like anyone followed their times. It felt like everyone showed up at the same time. There was no one enforcing people's arrival time as they indicated on their instructions. The time in security and at the registration desk was quick. The lines were just to long.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was good. If you cannot find something you like then you are being way to fussy. The bars were often to crowded. Not enough waiters or bartenders. Each time you would go to the bar it was about a 15 minute wait time.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There is definitely enough to do on the ship. I enjoyed the 10-pin bowling.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment was plentiful and there was plenty to keep you busy.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our room steward never introduced himself nor could we ever find him. I've been on numerous cruises but this is the first one I've been on where the only time our room was attending to once a day. Typically, they will do a turndown service but this never happened.
Waitstaff was average.
Cruise Director and the entertainment staff tried their best but unfortunately were boring.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
5 stars on cleanliness. Suggestion would be to have some place to put our trash. There were no trash receptables anywhere on the ship.
But the design was frustrating. The two main dining rooms (Savory & Taste) were on opposite sides of a bar. The lines to both Savory and Taste and the lines at the bar extended into the walking lanes. It was miserable if you had to walk in that area.
The Atrium is a nice concept but to small and not enough seating. You often had very early to get a seat for entertainment options as simple as Trivia.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I was very happy with our inside cabin. Probably the best we've had.
We did the Cozumel Amazing Race and absolutely had a blast. Highly recommend. Cozumel seemed to clean itself up since the last time we visited over 5 years ago.
People were so friendly and nice. As in most ports you are barraged with store workers trying to get you to come into their stores. But if you just said no-thank you they stopped pressuring you.....this is not common but much appreciated. We had to ask random residents for help/directions and every person we interacted with were so nice and happy to help.
We didn't do much at this port. We visited this port on numerous occasions and considered staying on the ship. There just isn't much to do other than an excursion or staying in the cruise area shopping district.
We walked around and then just sat at a pool which ended up being a lot of fun and relaxing.
OMG!!! The best disembarkation we ever had! We did the self checkout for our first time and it was the best. We left our room and even with a long walk to our parked car we were on the road toward home within 30-45 minutes.
Thanks for the review. Yes don’t sail during school break, holidays, or summer if you don’t like children. In my experience, it’s often the kids with parents close by who are the worst. Even then, I prefer excited kids having fun to rude obnoxious adults anytime.
We will be on the Breakaway
April 14. First time cruising.
Hopefully, all will go smoothly.
Planned the whole itinerary thru NCL. Myself I'm somewhat skeptical. How this cruise end up.
Haven't received much information for activities or dining.
Glad you were able to make it what seems like a very pleasant experience, albeit an overcrowded cruise. Sadly, it seems like every cruise has that unruly kids-issue. Parents are not controlling their kids, forgetting they’re sharing space with/ 5 K+ passengers, and everyone is on vacation wishing to have a good time. People need to take responsibility for this issue. They must feel exempted from parenting since they’re on vacation. Lord forbid you to say something! It’s just not fair to everyone else. Thanks for your thorough review. Happy cruising 🤩⚓️😎❣️‼️
Agree if you want a pleasant cruise, never cruise during spring break, especially when they offer a 3rd and 4th cruise promotion. They only service your cabin once a day now, I do miss the turndown and towel animals, but since coming back after covid, the stewards have more rooms to clean with less staff. I do wish that parents would be responsible for the children they take, but again, that seems to be a ship that has sailed
