3 of the 4 stops were wonderful. The friendliness of the crew on board left something to be desired.

Review summary

Overall the cruise was just ok. NCL wouldn’t be my first choice to sail on again but I would still consider sailing with them in the future. I know a few people who might enjoy it more than I did.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was a fast and smooth process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The specialty restaurants are well worth it. We had a dining package which is worth the money. The main dining rooms were just ok, not great but not horrible. The buffet was about the same, it had a few items that were better than others, not as much variety as I would’ve liked.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There were not many interesting activities (to me) and the spaces they were held in were typically small and therefore crowded. The pool area was nice, but the hot tubs were lukewarm at best.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows were fantastic, but you have to make sure you reserve in advance because the theater is small.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
With a few exceptions, the staff was not as friendly as you would expect from cruise staff. No one was outright rude but they were not what I would call joyful.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

The beds were not very comfortable. There was a good amount of room and it was clean when we embarked. However they did not change the bedding all week. They would make the bed when they came in to clean but never give us fresh bedding.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

3 out of 5
Traffic is horrible, but thats expected at any cruise port. It was still an interesting city to walk around.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Our shore excursion was enjoyable but not what we really thought it would be. It was off road buggy and you did go “off road” but the description makes you think its all off road through the jungle. I’m not sure I wouldve gone out of the port if we did not have a shore excursion booked.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

1 out of 5
The town is very dirty and very poor. If you don’t have something booked through the ship you can’t walk 1 step out of the actual port without getting bombarded by people trying to take you on a tour of some sort. And you have to be careful of scams because some will walk you around and then at the end tell you they charge for it and expect payment. The shore excursions focus mostly on the animals and ziplining.

Harvest Caye, Belize

4 out of 5
Harvest Caye is beautiful, but you have to take a tender boat to the mainland for your shore excursions. The country side is nice and there are a lot of interesting excursions to choose from.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
The port itself was nice, very pretty. Outside of the port was a little run down but nothing to crazy. You have to take a bus to any shore excursion and its about an hr for most of them. We did a mayan ruin and blue lagoon excursion and I definitely recommend it.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It seemed a little unorganized, but we were able to get off in a timely manner. Not much direction once you get back into the cruise terminal though.
