Review summary

Not happy with New Orleans port access but enjoyed the experience of the cruise. Good food, variety of activities both on board and shore excursions. Theater shows are high Broadway quality. Wish some of the Atrium games and shows had a bigger venue for more seating.

Embarkation

We used a taxi to get from a downtown hotel to the port. Traffic was horrible and our taxi got in the pickup line instead of the drop off line which was backed up by buses trying to pickup previous cruise passengers. Once we got thru that mass of humanity the check in process was quick and efficient. We still had to wait almost an hour in holding room before boarding the ship.

Ship tip

If you board early realize that the staterooms won’t be accessible until 3:00. They did provide luggage storage if you bring on your own luggage.

We stayed at Holiday Inn in the French Quarter. Highly recommended. A mile and a half walk to the port and 2 blocks from Bourbon Street. Vehicle traffic around port can be affected by train traffic so be aware.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Communication of disembarkation was nearly nonexistent. If we hadn’t gone by guest services we wouldn’t have had any communication. We used self-assisted disembarkation since we had an early flight. Although the posted disembarkation info said it would be thru the aft gangway, everyone was routed to fwd stairs where there was a huge log jam. They needed to break up the self assisted passengers into a smaller group
