Norwegian Breakaway

7 Night Western Caribbean (New Orleans Roundtrip)

Sail date: March 12, 2023

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Norwegian was not fully staffed for this cruise, bartenders over worked and wait times really long everywhere. Bars not stocked with enough product to serve the amount of passengers. Staff did a great job trying to accommodate passengers but needed more staffing to handle the amount of people.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
No issues with the boarding process, went smoothly and rather fast.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food on cruise was very good from the buffet to the restaurants.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Water slides were great, pool was busy but a good time. One thing I had a problem with was no one telling children the hot tubs are not their personal swimming pools.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Syd Normans was fun good shows, dueling piano bar was great.

Children's Programs

Didn’t bring kids.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff at all restaurants and shops were very good especially the Ocean bar restaurant.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was what you’d expect from a cruise, we had a balcony which is nice to open and hear the ocean. Bed wasn’t the best but for a week it was fine.

Ship tip

Double check all reservations you have made, most cruises are going to be full so be patient.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
Flew in early and spent 2 days in New Orleans, if you can do that we had a blast.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
Nice area when you get off ship for shopping and swimming but going into Costa Maya it is not very modern, lots of locals trying to get your money. If you can rent a golf cart and drive around. We had a blast doing this.

Harvest Caye, Belize

5 out of 5
We just stayed at Harvest Caye and it was fun, lots of activities for everyone and shopping. Only bad thing is ship’s packages (drinks and food) don’t transfer to island.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
We went snorkeling and had a good time. Small port and traffic was bad so be patient.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Very busy port and island, it’s been commercialized and with shops and restaurants. We went to swim with sea lions and manatees. Had a good time.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Went smoothly and were out of port quickly.

Good to hear the overall positive feedback.

Appreciate your detailed feedback. The hot tub guidelines (rules) are rarely enforced on normal sailings. Spring Break a blind eye is turned on them. Glad you still managed to enjoy your cruise.
