Review summary

Good, but not what it was in 2018 on a NYC-NOL repo cruise. Didn't seem as nice or special

Embarkation

Great-had a wheelchair person and NCL spirited us through the lines. There were a few breakdowns in copying the passport picture to the ship card. 3 of us had to go back and take another picture.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Taste and Savor-- Breakfasts were good. Sometime, breakfast service was slow. Some parts of breakfast came after we were finished. If lunch was available, we normally ate there also. Evening meals were good, but for people from south Louisiana, seasoning was off. I understand that so many people from outside of Louisiana wouldn't like the amount of heat we like from seasoning. Some soups we had to send backto be heated again. O'Sheehans is a blessing to have! The breakfast menu is limited. Wings were really good! Cagneys--steaks were good. Way too much prime rib--the meat was an inch thick! That caused us to waste good meat! Wanted to take leftovers back to the room, but that was "forbidden"--eenthoughwe paid for the meal. Good meal at La Cuchina. My wife had gumbo, but the chef has no experience in making a Louisiana style gumbo. South Louisiana gumbo and New Orleans gumbo are different. If you want to do gumbo, get some local cooks to show you how it is done. See The Cajun Ninja series of cooking videos on Facebook. At Moderno, service was very slow. Had to send the bisque back to get reheated. Had to ask for meat servers to come to the table. They seem to have been short handed. My wife's 87 year old mother didn't always feel like going to restaurants to eat, and at first, restaurants were unwilling to send food to the cabin or to allow family members to bring food to her. The maitre'd at Taste accomodated us after we met with him. Good man for NCL!

Onboard Activities

Only went to hot tub and didn't really feel that they could be classified as being " hot".

Entertainment

Didn't go to shows . Not a fan of having to reserve tickets. I paid for it, I should be able to access it--first come, first served.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

Our room steward, Jeff, was really good. All the dining staff were very pleasant!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Yes. Still wish that the casino was no smoking. Nothing like the smell of food tainted by cigarette smoke!!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very clean. I had to tighten a wingnut on the toilet seat. Not worth chasing down staff for a minor thing. As we age, bed mattress seems more and more uncomfortable.

Ship tip

If you are using Free at Sea and Latitudes eating privileges make sure you know where you are allowed to eat under each plan. If you are told you will get free water, be aware that it will not be regular type tap water. It will be some kind of alkaline water! When you book and have Latitude privileges, print out your Latitude privileges. They seem to change over time
