Review summary

The was not our best cruise. It rained every day, and NCL did not step up and compensate for the bad weather very well. We had to have our Gold Member discounts applied retroactively and it just seemed like the entire crew wasn't on the ball. Just a lot of little nitpicky things that we had to compensate for, take time our of our enjoyment of the cruise to deal with, and other things like that.

Embarkation

NCL is very efficient in onboarding.... unless there's a problem with your stateroom. Yes we got a new stateroom very quickly, but all the amenities and such... it takes them a while to catch up with the change.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The Specialty Dinning is top notch. Garden Cafe is okay. Teppanyaki - bring your appetite... way too much food. I heard complaints about the Velvet Dinner and Show but I did not experience it.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The fitness trainer informed me of a new rule... you can't used the stationary bike during spin classes and no other time. 2 destinations were cancelled on this cruise, and the weather was poor, and much of the sea days entertainment was 'weather dependent'. They didn't bring their A Game to this.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comedians were hilarious. Is a DJ actually a performer? One of the band singers was pretty weak.

Service and Staff

Usually NCL is really on the ball, but there were little things. The reservation desk book us for the wrong restaurant and we had to improvise. Our discounts weren't always applied automatically, etc...

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
They seemed to everything they could to keep the ship clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

we were moved to 10724 because 10850 has a plumbing issue. 10724 met our expectations, but the toilet flusher was dodgy for most of the cruise.

Ports of call

Willemstad, Curacao

It rained so our snorkeling was cancelled. The Hota Cave was pretty nice, except that the extreme limit on where can photograph. The walking tour of the capital was fine.

Oranjestad, Aruba

It rained. We went to Palm Island Resort. They had some snorkeling there but the coral reef was pretty barren. There were lots of birds, land crabs and wild lizards to be enjoyed. The Flamingos were cool.

Colon, Panama

This is a highly industrialized port with lots of poverty. Either stay on board or do an excursion. Don't walk around the city on your own. The tour of the canal lock is interesting. The rainforest tour was disappointingly lacking in critters. It rained.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

It rained, but it's a rainforest, so it's sort of on brand. The rainforest boat/walk excursion was great. We saw lots of critters. The port had a lot of local crafting kiosks, which were great.

George Town, Grand Cayman

This is a typical tourist island. The Cayman Turtle Centre, however is an amazing experience. If you want to snorkel and phtotograph turtles , this is the place to go.

New Orleans, Louisiana

We did not do a cruise excursion. we stayed the night and walked around the French Quarter.

Disembarkation

We were in no rush to leave, and it was a goot thing. There was a Saints home game and taxis and ubers were hard to come by... It took 90 minutes to get to the street.
