Review summary

Best crew and food ever. Phenomenal experience that I will never forget. Breakaway has its act together. Well oiled machine. Crew all know there roles and play them well at the highest level. Absolutely not one single complaint at all. Everything was perfect. Blown away by the experience and NCL never disappoints. However this was simply amazing and it was my honor and privilege to be welcomed back onboard by NCL after 2 years. Just go, set reasonable expectations and you will have a great time. Don’t forget to pack a smile!!!

Very smooth. Checked in within minutes. Waited 20-30 mins to board and was eating lunch before noon. 45 minutes total from walking into the port to having a plate of food at Garden Cafe

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Where to begin… garden cafe was phenomenal. The Asian food in particular was consistently fantastic. The lunch time sandwiches were amazing. The late night snacks were perfect!!! They open until 1130. The washy washy lady gives Rowan a run for his money. She was super sweet and absolutely delightful every single time you walked passed her. Basically an angel. The chefs here kicked ass and cooked their hearts out. Osheehans had incredible service and ultra fast food production. The Reuben was fantastic. Cagneys was absolutely ridiculously good here. Best cagneys I’ve had on any NCL ship (that’s saying a lot!!) the filet mignon was 5 star steakhouse quality

Onboard Activities

This was a very slow cruise in terms of the crowd it was probably half capacity. The crew did their best. Spa was wonderful. Shows were plentiful. Cruise director had great energy and charisma along with his staff. Plenty to do here especially on sea days

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The rock band at Syd Normans pour house was basically out of their league and same caliber or greater as any band post 1990s. They played a lot of 80s music. Comedy was good. Plenty of shows and music everywhere. Loved the pool deck band as always.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Unbelievable service. Never had better. The bar tenders were 10/10, super friendly, fast service, always a smile and always offering another drink!!! They have their act together and all knew my name right away. Especially the guys at Spice and Waves. However even the bartenders in the nooks and granny’s of the ship like headliners and syd normans, etc we’re all 5 stars. Best bar service ever. Restaurant staff 5 stars and ultra friendly and professional. Room steward was my ship hero, complete rock star service everywhere you went.

Ship Quality

Been on Escape 3 times (favorite ship), Bliss and Getaway. First time on Breakaway and it was exactly as I thought it would be. The original mothership to these other ships and it shows. A true beauty that set the stage for the best class of ships at sea. Super well maintained, common areas as clean as humanly possible. Unbelievable how amazed I was at this ships maintenance and beauty. The layout was exactly as I thought but everything else about it exceeded my expectations

Cabin / Stateroom

Super clean. Elite steward. Tv didn’t work but don’t care and didn’t even mention it to them. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet and location was spectacular. Best location I’ve ever had on a ship in terms of accessibility to the entire ship. Balcony offered top notch view for the category. Right next to service entrance but still ultra quiet. Zero ship noise here.

Stayed on the ship due to my experience in St John with immigration but the city looked beautiful from the ship and all the people I spoke too really enjoyed it here. Looked super clean and well put together!!

Nice town. Definitely prefer the Caribbean though. This was a last minute decision so I made the best of it. Weather was nice. Town was very nice

Portland, Maine

Awesome little town!! Smoked a joint while I was there from an organic dispensary in town and enjoyed the views. Beautiful place

Bar Harbor, Maine

Lovely little town, super clean. Great lattes at coco-latte. Very local spot. Would have liked to have done a hike at Acadia but seemed to be pushing it in terms of distance and time so I just chilled out. Maine was very nice

Disembarkation

Super easy. Did the self checkout and my bag was really heavy and almost tore my elbow up lugging it to the street but I did it. Walked off the ship in 3 mins.. waited in line at the port for maybe 15 mins. 5 stars
