Very relaxing cruise on the Breakaway. We enjoyed all of our ports and the specialty dining was fantastic.
Embarkation

Very smooth. Was on the ship by 11.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food everywhere was phenomenal! No complaints!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed hanging out at the waterfront. It was a little too loud and crowded for us on the pool deck. We enjoyed the miniature golf too.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We loved Rock of Ages and all the music around the ship. The comedians were great and are actually kind of known. 1 of them was a former writer for SNL. The dueling pianos were fun too. We wanted to check out Syd Norman’s but every time we checked it out, it was standing room only.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Bars were very crowded and service in general was slow. We waited over an hour from when we were seated at O’Sheehans to when our food arrived. This is no fun after you’ve had a busy day on shore and you come back to the ship hungry. Outside of food and drink, our service was great.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I love how this ship was designed. So many ships don’t make use of the outdoor space and the Breakaway has many outdoor dining venues. The ship was clean and in good shape. No complaints.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The stateroom was about the same size as others I’ve been on in the NCL fleet, but had a TON of storage. It seemed like everywhere we looked there was another cabinet. The bathroom was larger than other ships I’ve been on and had many shelves and ledges for storing. Everything was clean and in good condition.
Ship tip
When dining in the specialty restaurants, request to be seated outside.
We did Chanakaab Beach and Snorkel and it was the best snorkeling we’ve done yet. Crystal blue waters and we saw a lot of fish, a lobster, and 3 stingrays. Our guides Diego and Arturo were great at pointing out the fish for us to see. I would definitely return the next time we’re in Cozumel.
Belize City surprised me. The city was much more run down than I was expecting. I was glad we took a tour into the jungle to go cave tubing with cavetubing.bz. It was a little over an hour each way but the experience was worth it. Our guides Barry and Carlos were very informative about what it’s like to live in Belize and also about the caves and flora. The one negative was how long the whole thing took. We only made it back 15 minutes before the final tender.
Harvest Caye is what happens when Americans design a Caribbean Cruise Port. Very clean, beautiful beach but lacked authenticity. There were reports of jellyfish in the water, so be careful if you want to go swimming. The pool area fills up fast so if you want to get a spot there, you have to get off the ship early. The restaurants on the island were pricey, but there weren’t many places open on the ship so we decided to stay on land. Overall, it was a great place to sit back and relax but don’t expect more than that.
Another manufacturers cruise port. There’s a beach and a pool right there, you don’t have to go anywhere if you don’t want to. We decided to go to Chacchoben Ruins. It was my first time seeing Mayan Ruins and it was very interesting to learn about thei culture. Our guide, Alejandro Hernandez was fantastic. I only wish we had more time to explore this beautiful place.
